  1. I have read everything you all have said and reported it back to my partner... We have now decided to do it up and leave it for a while then sell and buy bigger... Thanks for the warning guys cos we didn't think what actually went into it.....
  2. Thank you all for the advice on how we could have got it..... and for the advice on when moving the shower... I suppose i'm angry with the suveyor as che checked it all over before we brought the boat, and we only went ahead with it cos he said it seemed ok for it's age. Had he had done his job right and checked the flooring properly which he could access 80% of it, he would have seen it then we would have brought a better one. Oh well whats done is done i suppose, we live and learn. Thanks to you all anyway
  3. We are considering sometime in the near future having our boat streched, we thought of having another 10-20ft put on. Only trouble is we have a v shaped bottom and a wooden top. Does anyone know of someone who can do the streching on a boat like ours and is it costly??? Or does anyone know of anywhere where they do part ex when buying another boat?
  4. Hi All November of last year my partner and myself brought a 36ft Springe. We had a full survey done on it and they said it was in good condition for it's age. He said he couldn't find any major problems. Since getting Christmas out of the way we decided to change a few things around, ie move the shower and toilet to the back of the boat. Upon lifting the carpet tiles we noticed there is dry rot... not just a little but quite a lot so much so it just crumbles in your hands. We took up a fair bit of the floor to see what it was like underneath. a little messy but not too bad. My first question is do we have to replace the whole of the boat floor. or can we treat the less severe parts to stop it spreading? Secondly is there anything we can do to claim back from the man who did the survey?
  5. Would love to, but finances will not allow at the moment, so i will stay happy with our 36ft'er for a few more years..... Even thought about having her stretched but suppose it would be easier to just buy bigger....
  6. Richard The snooker table would be bigger than my boat lol
  7. WOW Didn't realise, forgive me as i am a novice. Thanks for the advice, i'm always prepared to listen to someone of great experience, so i will take your advise.... Time to shell out for a new one
  8. Alistair When i said the fridge gets warm, it is inside where the small freezer compartment is, inside there it gets warm, and the fridge area feels no different. Never thought to feel the back when we lit it, Will check.... We thought if we brought a seperate battery and fitted a solar panel to it so it was feeding the fridge only, would that work?. If not then i will have to shop around....... Doreen
  9. Hi All We have a 12v electrolux fridge, when we first tried to use it, it just kept getting warm, The boat builders who we brought the boat from told us to keep turning it over onto its side to get it working again. We did as we were told and hey presto guess what?? it didn't work!!! When we lit the gas it just kept making it warm. Do i have a problem with the fridge or is it just me doing it wrong?? typical female i hear you say...... lol Or is it just as easy to wire it up to 12v???
  10. Thanks Stuart, hope everything goes well with the sailaway, i'd love to be able to have one myself, and fit it to my spec not how others see it.
  11. Hi everyone Our names are Doreen and John and we are new to boating. We decided to follow our dream and buy a boat, We didn't want to look back in years to come and say "why didn't we"?. This website is brilliant for all levels of boating from novice to advanced, and i'm so glad there are so many people out there willing to help, even us newbies..... Thanks Doreen
  12. We have just recently brought a 36ft springer, it's a good starting boat for the two of us. The only thing is we would like to change the inside, as it seems back to front. ( Or is that just me!!! ) or i think it is The toilet and shower are right at the front of the boat where the doors open and anyone can see in. surley thats not normal??? I would like to be able to move them to the back. Does anyone now where i can get some designs from to look at. (eg.. someone's pics of a re fit ) or even a website that i can see what others have done.... Doreen
  13. Bernie A big big thank you, we rang Jaqueline as you mentioned and she says, "yes she has space bring our check book, and it's first come first serve basis" So many thanks again
  14. Bernie Thanks i will try those too, i'm grateful for any information that comes my way. The price doesn't bother me too much, you pay for what you get, I only have a small 36ft, for now i can only dream of bigger ones..... Doreen
  15. Peter Thank you very much for your information, i will ring and enquire..... We are still struggling for a permanant mooring but if we have no joy then we will hope for the best by mooring somewhere quiet. Doreen
