  1. Hi Everyone, My hubby and I are new to boating. We bought a primed part finished 57ft narrowboat almost 2 years ago meaning to finish her off pretty quickly and get out on the cut. Having stripped her back to the insulation and started again we are almost there!. Bare in mind that in all we have probably worked on her for no more than a total of 5months in between our heavy work schedule and the 160mile round trip to get to her. In hindsight we definately would have taken her out of the water (given the distance, diesel and mooring costs) and worked on her closer to home -but you live and learn.
  2. I love the colours pud>>>> I think I will have to try something a little more adventurous :-)
  3. Thank you N B Alnwick, I am looking forward to extending my narrowboat knowledge ( which isnt much at present lol).

  4. I think your "knobhead" roses look great.
  5. I love the port hole bungs after much searching for something to cover my portholes ( curtains, crochet panels, wooden shutters etc)its bungs for me lol.
  6. Thank you for that information, I will have a look on their website for the paint. Quick drying is good as I am going to attempt to paint a scene of sorts on the side panel as you go down the stairs to the stern door. I have already done the panels for my hatch doors, they are passable but I think I will replace them as I am not too happy with the humbrol finish
  7. Hello and welcome to our forum . . .

  8. Hello all, I am new to the site and a relatively new boat owner. I also have been painting roses and castles (trying anyway). I got the Anne Young Book , but I much prefer Tony Lewerys (pity I cant paint like him :-) ). After using Dulux trade gloss and humbrol I need to find something that paints a little better as I would like to have a go at a picture on the outside of the boat oooooooooo!! Any ideas? my apologies if I have missed them as I read through the messages very quickly Do you need to paint over in varnish or similar after.
  9. Hi Dignity, After being ripped off by a canopy maker last year I contacted Kinver Canopies to make me a cratch last month and they did a cracking job - travelled a fair way to me as well. The cover is very well made and the lads were very professional in their manner, they had it made and fitted it within 2 weeks. I was so impressed that I asked them to make me a pram cover - to be fitted next week:-)
