  3. If you dont get it sorted before and if this helps- I'll be going from Burton on Trent to Hayes beginning of August and we're in Alvecote most weekends
  4. Hi- We bought our first boat 3 years ago and moored at Shardlow- the marina which is accessed on the Trent. We loved the marina and the area but found that there were many times when we just couldn't get out of the marina because of high water levels. I think we bought at the end of a wet summer going into a wet autumn and winter, so it may have been an unusual year, but we just didn't get enough use out of the boat as we wanted. We did spend time on her, but hadn't expected a lot of it to be in the marina. I had hoped to boat most of the year round but it wasn't possible from our moorings We can only use the boat at weekends and the odd week- same as yourselves We've since moved to a marina on the Coventry canal and have used the boat a lot more since- plus I haven't missed the big double locks around there. They were good if you shared with another boat but some of those gates are heavy. It might be worth thinking about the pros and cons of river versus canal moorings if you have limited oppportunities to go boating- Personally I love river moorings but they just aren't practical for us at the moment Good luck
  5. Pants hanging in the window on a plastic peg contraption although I may be wrong cos my house neighbour has one hanging in her front bedroom window -also complete with pants

  7. Have a play with Apollo duck using the advanced search and see what's around for your budget and above it. If you do it regularly you start to get a feel for values and the overpriced ones become more obvious and the odd bargain as well. Good luck in your search

  9. Great news -we've felt sad when we've passed it- so very pleased to hear it's new future. Good luck to all those involved
  10. Are you asking what we have or what we think is most common. If it's what we have- then I can't vote as our boat is below 41foot. If it's what is most common then 57foot, given all the boats I've looked at recently.
  11. But you haven't been continuous cruising and after 9months, they can't be certain you will. Take the 3months licence and build up some brownie points. The letter seems very clear and fair. When will your engine be working- If its still going to take a while it might be worth taking a home mooring. What ever you do- I would talk to CRT and keep them updated?
  12. Have you been moving and got a log of where you have been- if so, speak to them If not -As the others have said
  13. I think nowadays if they can brew a comparable beer and bottle on site they will - its cheaper than tankering what is effectively expensive water and less prone to spoilage. Some purists say you can't replicate brewing in different parts of the country because of different water characteristics, micro flora in the brewery etc but many multi site breweries do. Marston's Pedigree is one i know that that is only brewed in Burton I'm not sure if they tried in the W&D breweries when they took Marston's over. Is Guinness made in more than one location- that would be my guess for another Oh and to answer the question doombar is brewed in Burton
  14. Cask is made in Cornwall - the bottled doombar is made in Burton
  15. OHs old T-shirt works great
  16. There's a pub on the north Oxford where you can hire a bathroom by the hour - that should do it

  18. Looks good- I do similar with a splash of soy sauce instead of the oil. You can also wrap in foil and pop in the oven but the grill is better
  19. The range have a good selection of citronella products- candles-i use the tealights in a small metal bucket in the cratch when we moor plus they now sell citronella gel air fresheners for£1

  21. Only time we've had trouble were kids spitting off a bridge in Loughborough- dirty eejits. We thought we were going to have trouble in Tipton with a group of teenagers on a bridge but the other half who knows the area well started talking to the kids before we passed under the bridge and they were fine- - could be a good lesson to interract first, not saying it will always work though.
  22. OH uses it as well. Tiger balm is brilliant for healing bites and reducing the itching

  24. This is slightly off topic- Our local council has reduced the frequency of mowing parks, to save money. The grass is a little longer and there's a few weeds, but the amount of gold finches and butterflies I've seen this week in the nearest park to me has been stunning.
