  1. It would be good if they publicised where they are. I didn't know there was some at Fradley and had already mixed the rubbish in a bin liner when I got there
  2. Agree completely and you will definitely need a survey for insurance on a boat of that age
  3. To be honest I have read most of it but with 27 pages and a lot of convolutions I wasn't clear so asked for clarification and if it had been resolved. As a boater with a home mooring who has limited boating time and travels the same stretches of canal I am interested in the outcome. Some of us have work and family commitments which mean we don't have all the time to read and digest every published word. Is that a problem for you?
  4. Dean have you actually contacted CRT- is it sorted?

  6. We stopped on a Monday night 2 years ago but they didn't do food on a Monday so they reccomended an Indian takeaway, told us to have it delivered there and couldn't have been friendlier. Excellent takeaway as well. Wonder if its still the same people. Dog friendly as well
  7. Thanks everyone for such great ideas
  8. Oh no you must be mistaking it with that vile Aussie copy that tastes like burnt rubber.

  10. Damn - missed my chance then......
  11. Colmac-please report it to CRT- I guess other authorities would have powers as well. It's vile and unnecessary and another reason for people to have issues with boaters. If a non boater saw it, there's a good chance they would think we all did it
  12. Would love to see internal photos
  13. The pakoras were very good-similar to bhajis- made me think of a variation of adding some Thai curry paste and chopped prawns, a variation of Thai fish cakes Never thought of dryng them. Just wondering how to do that? I could put them in the greenhouse
  14. Thanks guys- food for thought Just grated today's crop and adding a little salt to draw the moisture out- quite therapeutic
  15. I have a glut of courgettes and need some tried and tested recipes- preferably ones I can freeze This afternoon I will be making spicy courgette pakoras to go with a lamb curry Thanks

  17. Bizarre response about the licence details, given you posted the communication from CRT on another thread recently
  18. Have to admit - I wouldn't have known the horn signals but if you were at the front of the boat waving as you were we'd have realised something was amiss and slowed down
  19. Given all the social media about intolerance towards boaters- I find it saddening to see people displaying intolerance to other boaters within the boating community. Does it really matter where people moor, everyone has different needs. I have elderly boating friends who find it difficult to handle their boat and don't want to leave their boating life and a Marina is a compromise that works for them. Is it really fair to call them slum dwellers or ghetto dwellers. It might not be what you want but Kriss show some tolerance and hope you don't find yourself in their situation
  20. We've got a villager puffin which was on the boat when we bought it so don't know how old it is - it works well and stays in overnight we, burn wood and smokeless- ours hasn't got airwash so the glass gets dirty but easy to clean
  21. We like it - saw water voles and terrapins last year
  22. Don't think that's quite true- when we relicensed in April we were told we still had to display the licence- we had to print it off or CRT would send a copy- either way we had to display it
  23. I add a sterilising tablet when filling up, plus we have a simple inline filter under the sink and use a water filter jug to improve the taste.
  24. We did the Llangollen from Bunbury in an Anglo Welsh boat
  25. Got a pole from midland chandlers on freaky Friday. I think they did 2 different lengths- OH wanted the biggest one and nope we haven't used it yet and he won't stick it on top of the boat- its down the corridor. I suppose if we didn't have one we'd have needed one by now. I'm thinking of cracking a bottle of champagne when it's actually used Ps- is there a proper boaty term for corridor?
