  1. Spot on Cal - the restrictions only apply to the smaller offshoots of the three main rivers, River Chet up to Loddon and the Ant above Wayford bridge are the only bits I can think of off the top of my head. Best guess is there's still about 115 miles open to all.
  2. We keep our little splitter at Stalham at the top of the Ant, as Ditchcrawler says there are quite a few narrowboats on the Broads but not many full length ones - about 45' is probably the maximum for easy turning in the narrow bits. Air draught - 7' will get you under most bridges after a check of tide tables. Potter Heigham is the exception - plenty of footage on YouTube. Mark99 - if you give us a go,avoid the school holidays, the Northern rivers will be heaving with Stella'd up holiday makers in hire boats. Out of season, however, the Broads are idyllic!
  3. I've not noticed any drop off in flow, just a a bit of a film on the water, so I reckon it by-passes. The pleated element certainly looks like it doing the job.
  4. Hi Arthur, its a clear plastic top screwed canister containing a pleated filter similar to an old school oil filter with a bulkhead fixed top with 3/4 BSP in and out. We fitted the smallest model as there's not a lot of space under the cockpit floor of our yoghurt pot - mistake as the filter needs changing twice a season at £30 a pop! Not cheap but we'd have had to have the engine out to glass any form of tray under it. Hope this helps.
  5. Ref. Oil in bilge, we have a 'Wavestream' filter in the discharge hose from the bilge pump as there isn't a separate drip tray under the engine. Passed the last two BSS exams with it. We're on the Broads and folk a hot on oil slicks.
  6. We have a 27' x 9'6" GRP cruiser on the Broads with a good old 1.5 BMC giving, I suppose, about 30 hp. Diesel comsumtion over the last 2 years has been just over a litre an hour. We tend to average around 4mph over the ground. Hope this helps.
  7. Trevor - I know its Northern rivers but have you spoken to Jason at Ludham Bridge? He may be able to point you in the right direction.
  8. We saw a very nice Broom in Wroxham the other day "Norfolk Enchants".
  9. Yesterday was a particularly high tide and Potter Bridge was showing 5'9" at about noon - you'd get a saily under but not a lot else. We moor at Stalham and the levels have been noticably higher than usual for about a month. Hope this helps.
  10. Looks sporty (but isn't - Bounty 27), fibreglass, antiquated basic engine (BMC1.5), only fits two adults............No Worries has got to be a Bond Bug!! Sorry, no pic as I'm at w*rk)
  11. Teadaemon beat me to it re. the Marsh Harriers on the Broads but theres also a pair of Hen Harriers around Sutton - a few weeks ago we saw one pass a rat(?) to the other in mid-air - of course no camera to hand!
  12. Bizzard - Vagabond (A85)is certainly still out and about now in private ownership tho' - still racing. Stempost - There are still a few Lady class active Perfect Lady 9 is a member of the norfolk broads forum and theres still a Lady Day regatta centred on Thurne Lion late in October.
