  1. hi, i,ve been reading on the forum about cables and am a bit confused, i,m going to be buying and fitting a fridge soon(and with all the feedback i,m getting from an earlier post)it looks like being an electric one,my question is why do they say measure how far the fridge will be from your batteries then double it for the length of cable needed, so if its 8m away then 16m of cable needed,cheers
  2. hi all, i could do with a little advice, i,m in the process of fitting out my nb, and just the other day was talking to a friend about fridges,i said i,m having an electric one,he said dont bother there not worth the agro what with low battery warning lights comming on all the time,and worrying about draining batteries, he said go lpg gas simples, bullet proof reliability,easy to fit, and you dont even have to vent them now, so what does the forum think? cheers
  3. hi, i,m just doing up an old morso squirrel stove, i,ve fitted a new top/glass/riddle plate/ect, and it needs a new baffle plate, my question is do i need to fit a baffle plate? cheers,

  5. after lining out with 9mm what thickness faced ply would you use to finnish
  6. thanks frank, i thought 6mm would be lighter and cut down on top weight, are you thinking theres not much diffrence in weight, i get your point 9mm would be a better fix.

  8. hi all, i,ve been collecting bits a pieces for my narrowboat thats being built as we speak(i will be asking a few questions lol)i have a lovely little bellfast sink but it has a few chips on it, not to many, but i was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to fix these dinks, cheers all

  10. hi, can anyone help me with my keel cooling tank, i need to work out what size to have to cool a 1800 bmc, i dont wont any overheating problems, so need to get it right at this stage, many thanks
  11. i used wire wool once, it turned my glass a lovely frosted look lol , now at home on my multiburner i use flash multisurface & glass cleaner with green pan sponge,all from pound shop,

  13. hi all,i,ve been looking at a few ovens for my new nb, and am a little confused, can anyone tell me the difference between,a flame supervision device (fsd) and a flame failure device (ffd),will they both be acceptable for the boat safety cert,thanks in advance for your help
  14. hi all, can anyone see a problem with me useing silicon to stick my celatex insulation up,and also underfloor too, i will of course leave a little gap around the edges to fill with foam witch will hold it in place should the silicon fail,many thanks

    thanks for the response,i do no a little of the 1800,s history andd none of the 1500,s history, so i think i,ll stick with the bigger of the two,i,ll be useing that bit of trent a fair bit also, so i think i,ll be glad of that extra grunt, many thanks

    hi all, can anyone help, i,m just looking for an engine for my new nb, and i,ve got the choice of a couple at the right money, one,s a 1500 bmc, the others a 1800 thornycroft bmc i know the hp of the 1500 is about 30/35 ish, but i cant seem to find the hp of the 1800 and its this one that i think i,ll be better off with in a 57 footer, many thanks

  20. hi all, i,m having a shell built and am looking for an engine to marinise, working on a buget, does the forum have any advise on what to look for. i,ve herd that some motors cost a fortune to marinise because of the kit you have to buy. i,m thinking of looking out for a BMC 1800/1500, its going in a 57 ft trad, many thanks
