    My hour counter cost 50p at a boot sale 30 years ago. From an old generator, electro mechanical. Simply wired to the run side of the ignition switch. Like Arthur Daley in can be clocked to zero by moving the tumblers with a razor blade and matchstick.

    For internet, check out Mobile Broadband, a USB powered router dongle. I use a 3 4g one but the other providers do similar.

    I had one moored behind me, a Carribean type built in Brundle, Nanni engine, no silencer just the usual sea boat non return type water box exhaust outlet. Not only was the exhaust note staccato but also combined with the drumming of the grp shell of the transom. And no weed box hatch, so would need frogmans suit, snorkel. A pole with a pike on the end to clear the prop would be a struggle.

    Most Broads cruisers have raw water cooled engines with no actual silencer, just cooling water ejected from the exhaust. They can make an awfully loud rasping noise from the exhaust pipe at the stern end which would send anyone moored behind bonkers.

    A humane rocking mouse trap are very popular with mice, it's the peanut butter that does it. A rat with the right rattitude might also like a bigger version.

    If you can reach the engines decompressors and start button at the same time use them, they will lessen the load on the batteries and starter motor, especially in this colder weather when the oil is thicker.

    A silicate free antifreeze is probably best for the engine. Research it they usually state if it has it or not. My 2013 car uses the old ethylene glyco silicate free antifreeze as stated in it's handbook.

    Grow Sunflowers and hang small solar panels on em and they will face the sun automatically.

    Brushless electric motors have been around for donk's years. I have a 1950's Limit fan, a 1960's Electrolux cylinder vacuum cleaner and an old fan heater, all bought for fivers and tenners years ago at junk shops, all still going strong.

    If you run a bead of Capt Tolly's Creeping Crack Cure along the top of the window frame and then watch it you'll see it sink into any wee holes, if so do it again and watch it. When it stops sinking into any holes, it's done. Clean the window channels with soapy water and your tooth brush which is ideal.

    Easy to make a wedge. Carve-whittle it out of soft wood with a sharp knife. Put wood glue on the wedge and start it in the slot, poke it into the tube. Turn tube vertical with the wooden handle standing on the ground and with a wooden pole, broom handle even a square long stick poke it in the top of the tube and whack it with a hammer to knock the wedge firmly in to expand the slot.
