  1. That port side view is when industrial mounted engine, like in dumper trucks, generators ect., blanked off dipstick hole and oil filler cap, both not used in marine use. Your dipstick should be in a long curved tube on the starboard side. Three oil filler caps on valve covers on top of engine, use any of them to fill or top up with oil.
  2. Your pic is the port side. Starboard side low down at the stern end of the crankcase. Awkward by the looks of your engine bearers, might be in the way.
  3. because modern cars are so light to handle it would be easy to cause an incedent through drink driving. In days of yore when cars were a bit of a handful, noisier, most family cars had no servo brakes, no PAS, they needed a bit of a work out by the intoxicated driver which often sobered them up in time to avoid an incedent.

    Slowing down

And engine idle speed tweaked up to cope with enomous electrical loads, ie huge inverters, battery banks, and gready appliancies while on the move.

Bit like big variable pitch prop driven aircraft. Take off on fine and cruise on course. Once on holiday in Newquay Cornwall staying at a pub. The owner told me a tale about when he was a lad during ww2 he watched and American Liberator take off from RAF St Mawgan, it stalled and crashed into a cliff. The investigation found the prop pitch control was in course pitch which caused the stall. The pilot could of course take off in fine pitch but changed to course pitch far too early, who knows.
  7. I do in river Stort locks cos they're not wide enough to hold two narrowboats side by side and I can poodle in in the middle and stop to tie up.

  17. Thanks. You mean a 3G sim worked as 4G in a 4G dongle?
  18. My 3 contract renews automatically every month 26th, tomorrow.
  19. I need to keep with 3 cos the signal is very strong here the mast is in our back lane. EE useless here. I thought as much, thank you Ian. My nephew is an IT expert but I don't like bothering him with this stuff. I might go to the 3 Shop with all the tackle and tackle em. I take cakes in there which helps.
  20. And my Gorilla won't bite it either.
  21. Yes but if I trim the 3G Sim to fit the 4G dongle will it work in 4G mode, thanks. I think it's mini for the 4G dongle. I aint go no dawg.
  22. Could do, I only need about 20 Gorillabites of data.
  23. 3G is ending soon and I have to change to 4G. I use a 3 mobile broadband dongle, contract, which uses the standard biggish Sim card. I have a new 4G Dongle which needs the smaller Sim card. If I cut the side off the big Sim card it would fit the new 4G dongle. BUT would it work in 4G mode, in other words is it the Sim card or the dongle that decides or both to get 4G. Cos 3 are trying to flog me a new more expensive plan. Thanks in advance if anyone knows. Bizzard.
  24. Blame the Jet stream although it has saved us last summer and this from horrid blistering heat from just over the near continent.
