  1. Fan/drive belt seems to be ok, hull not blacked for about 10 months, I will take a closer look at the wiring ref a short but have a horrible feeling it may well be an overheating problem Thanks gents
  2. Evening folks I'm looking for some advice about my engine overheating Today I was just cruising along canal when the temperature light started to flicker and alarm sounded but only very feebly ( not a full alarm beep) This began to happen in the 1400-1600 rev range, throttling back to about 1200 revs stopped both indications I moored up and checked coolant level, opened cap on expansion tank (carefully I might add), water level rose about an inch, removed "radiator" type cap on top of engine and found water level full, removed plug from top of skin tank and also found water level full. Skin tank was also hot from top to bottom. My initial ideas was the thermostat stuck but the fact the skin tank is getting hot seems to preclude that. Another thought is the temperature sensor giving a false reading, final thought given the light only flickers and alarm very feeble it could perhaps be a wiring fault. Would anyone like to suggest how I should spend tomorrow fault finding
  3. As far as I remember, Mr Miller was unfortunately taken ill and had to close the business
  4. Sorry, I beg to differ, many aircraft go into the hangar with empty tanks - otherwise how do you carry out fuel tank maintenance?
  5. I agree with you regarding the price, it was the free p & p which I thought could addup to a saving for someone who cannot collect
  6. Saw these for sale this morning - thought it might be of use if someone was looking to replace their batteries http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6x-Trojan-T105-Narrow-Boat-Deep-Cycle-Batteries-6Volt-225Ah-Great-Price-/252106628663?hash=item3ab2b9de37:g:-bUAAOSwrklVHQnM
  7. spannerman.... got there first, its Food for Free by Richard Mabey, I had the book when I was living in Cornwall, all those years ago. I have to content myself here in Spain to scrumping apricots, peaches, broccoli and lettuces and the odd bag of snails to go in the paella..a local dish, sorry to the vegies amongst you ]Ah, sorry, slow to come back spannerman, but your question has been answered, Richard mabey. There is also a Booze for free book lurking somewhere in our boat!Don't know about the donuts, but tesco, and some other big supermarkets, have reduced sections for food that is being sold off cheap due to expiry dates, damaged packaging etc....usually the first area I check out! Thanks to you both for your replies Spannerman
