  1. Re- muffler for Webasto pump. I would be very grateful if somebody could please explain why this would be a good idea. Is the pump noisy? Would muffling invalidate warranty?
  2. Thank you for comments. We would be grateful for any further recommendations, or otherwise, for Spinflo or Belling (or other) built-in lpg ovens. Thanks again.
  3. Thanks all, and Alan: Yes, a gas oven. There are several at various chandlers but recommendations are a bit thin on the ground. Hence our query.
  4. We are contemplating installing a small washing machine as part of an upgrade to the kitchen/galley in a 57 foot narrowboat. Also, we are considering having a built-in oven with a separate 2 or 3 ring hob fitted as part of the refurb; and would be very grateful for recommendations please.
  5. We cruised from April until October, our second year since retiring, from the midlands to Bath and Chester and return, with lots of great places in between, and the good summer weather was memorable for us. Our favourite canal was (our maiden trip on) the South Oxford. Most memorable moment was coming into contact with the centre of the roof of the culvert under the M5 on the Droitwich Canal southbound. Another maiden canal for us. The front of the cratch caught on something and tore the cover. Fortunately we were barely on tickover and the water surge passed within a few seconds. Irritating as we passed under the template with room to spare, and the lock keeper at Hanbury locks had advised us that our boat (57ft) would have plenty of clearance. Anyway, roll-on next April!
  6. Yup Fatal error again 26 NOV 1702. Tried again twice and up it popped; CWDF that is.

  8. Fatal error again this evening. Why out of memory?
  9. We like this coffee stop, and the bacon butties are first class. A cheap and cheerful place, even in November! Very sad to hear it may be closing.
  10. I have four leisure batteries plus one starter battery. I give the terminals/ blocks a wash and brush-up every once in a while but one terminal is prone to "furring-up" (I don't know the correct term for this), despite me applying a light film of Vaseline. I would appreciate any help in resolving this problem thanks.
  11. Any update welcomed please. Stoppage "until further notice" from CRT yesterday evening.

  13. Recommendations please - for a AA battery toothbrush. Thanks
  14. This just to advise the crew that I encountered several "Fatal error/out of memory" messages when trying to open this thread at 1630ish. Does anybody know what is going on? Also took three attempts to reply........

  19. 2012 was our first season on the cut from beginning of April until this last week in October. We retired and bought a second-hand boat last year. We had great fun and travelled from Nottingham to Llangollen and Napton to Whaley Bridge and lots of routes in between. The weather was nothing special this year but roll on 2013. Our boat is now winterised until next April (if we can wait that long.) High point - the Montgomery Canal in the nice weather at the end of May. Two great pubs and very rural. We didn't meet many boats but everyone we met also seemed to be having a great time. Low point - being sworn at and wrongly accused of running the engine at the water point on Macclesfield visitor moorings; we think it was a local resident. All in all we had a truly wonderful cruising season - what a life!
  20. The China Garden, adjacent to the marina (handy) is now a Toby Carvery (reasonable) with real ales, including the excellent EPA.
  21. We are always a little wary of fiddling about in the engine compartment when it's pouring rain, hence our request for help prior to checking supply. After rigging up an umbrella we checked and cleaned all contacts, fuse/holder and the connection that graham r referred to, which is behind a stanchion. Then we noticed the the display was illuminated - the lack of which we should have mentioned in our original post - and readings returned to "normal".
  22. Thank you all. Sorted. The Forum has once again proved invaluable.
  23. Our Victron BMV-600S is normally used to keep an eye on voltage, and has never let us down. We have just returned to the boat after a couple of weeks at home, and, as usual our batteries were isolated. Always in the past, when we have reconnected, our domestic bank usually gives a reading of about 12.5/12.6V. This time, the gauge is just reading a large I on the right of the readout panel. Running the engine and pressing all the buttons on the gauge have made no difference. We have the manual but this apparent fault does not seem to be listed. We have searched the forum and as yet have not discovered an answer. Would be very grateful for help/advice.
  24. Two volunteer lock keepers on duty today at Fradley Junction are very helpful with all the locks. We were mostly impressed.
