  4. Thanks for the info. Just installed and looks good. (If it's ok with everyone) I'll update the Forum if things go awry.

    Hurleston

There is an updated CRT video of the lock 4 rebuild on youtube. Sorry but we don't have the nous to put it on here.

    Boat rage

"Debacle" to quote Caelmiri - it certainly is. The film does not show appear to narrow boaters in a good light.
  10. Our previous narrowboat had a freestanding cooker. Our current narrowboat has built-in waist-level oven with eye-level grill, and we have a separate three burner hob. It's great for our ageing backs that we no longer have to bend down to use the oven.
  11. Renewed thanks for all your help. We feel more confident about changing the tank.
  12. 1. We've in the process of replacing our 5L Xylem accumulator tank and would be very grateful for any tips. We have the fact sheet and hopefully understand the pressure required but we're not terribly technically-minded; e.g. do we just turn the water off, unscrew the old one and then screw the new one in? 2. The other day cruising the Coventry and BANG whoops something on the prop. We pulled over and investigated the weed hatch but nothing. Set off again and we've now got a wobble on the tiller. Long story short been right down the weed hatch three times and felt as much of the hull and rudder as possible, still nothing untoward but we now have a permanent shake on the tiller and swan neck. Does this mean a dry-docking? Any help on these two headaches would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Very many thanks for replies.
  14. We would have liked to stop at New Mills the other day on the Peak Forest canal on the way to Whaley Bridge but couldn't find a spot. (Not a complaint but a chap in the marina shouted across to us on the towpath "You can't stop there" when we paused in the rain). We would be very grateful if anybody could advise if it's possible to moor at New Mills so we can look around the town etc. Thanks

    A new cat

We're assuming that as Arthur is a lovely rescue cat then he's been chipped. We think Ginger (Tom) should be chipped also, so a trip to the vet may be called for, and they love worming cats, for a small fee that is.
  17. Amazon UK has a Kidde CO alarm as deal of the day today, boat and caravan compliant for a tenner.
  18. Our 4 year-old 240v TV has an integral vertical DVD player which we've found handy if the reception goes a bit pants.
