Qualified as radio ham whilst at school. Engineering apprenticeship with the CEGB before joining the BBC as outside broadcast communications engineer. After twelve years started and ran business importing/distributing Italian motorcycle spares for further twenty years. Qualified as instrument rated private pilot during that time. Retired early to cruise a sailing yacht in the Med then across to the Caribbean where I spent seven years, before repatriation and cruising inland waterways.
