  6. We were down that way at the start of the month. I'm always amazed at how nice that bit of canal is given that it is but a spit and a stride from the middle of Wolverhampton. There are moorings on the towpath above the Bratch and space for a boat or two on the offside below. Beyond Kinver there is a nice mooring at the Staffs/Worcs border between bridges 26 and 25. We tied up for the night on the mooring just short of Debdale lock. Very quiet, apart from the church bells! We've been to Stourport a couple of times but I've never quite worked out where the visitor moorings in the basin are. A better plan is to moor on the (5 day?) moorings just above York St lock. Very handy for the Hollybush in Mitton St too. Other moorings are available! Enjoy SAM Ryde IOW ETA The Stourport bit.

  14. A very nice man from Nigeria writes.................... "Greetings Mr Cloggy. I also am being friendly with Mr Dan. If you are to be giving myself Mr Dans bank and Paypay details I will be passing them onto his self at my first available time so saving you the troubling of yourself." The lurgi could well have reached Stourport. Libby is feeling unwell One good thing about teaching is that contact with hundreds of kids does tend to fortify the immune system somewhat. I'm feeling fine <touches wood> so far.

  16. Serves you right for laughing at me at Northwich
  17. SNAP!!! Only in my case it was on the Weaver mooring at Northwich. The Comradepartnerperson, (Little Else here on CWDF) was watching and said "I can't believe you just did that" before collapsing with laughter.
  18. To cut a long story short the nature of my employment has changed over the past year or so and to say I am unhappy at work would be a gross understatement. Last week I feel I reached the point where I could happily walk away and not go back. The snag with this is I don't have a 'Plan B' as far as earning a living goes. I noticed an advert from one of the big hire firms looking for seasonal staff in the back of WW a few months ago. I'm wondering how realistic I'm being in thinking I might be able to get a job at a hire base. I realise that the work would be seasonal, probably part time and the wages wouldn't be great but as long as I got enough to cover day to day living expenses and there was somewhere to moor the boat I'd be happy. Despite what I've said in my first paragraph I'm hoping to hang on until the summer so if this did become 'Plan B' it wouldn't be until late summer this year or the 2014 season. So, ladies & gents of the CWDF jury, is this a viable 'Plan B' or am I condemmed to live with the brave new world of the OFSTED 9 Point Framework and a school in 'Special Measures'? SAM Ryde IOW (With thanks in advance for any helpful responses)
  19. Can Little Else, aka Libby, bring her own gin? (only asking on her behalf you understand ) SAM Ryde IOW
