  1. I've seen this photo before (copied from Geoff Dowling's Flickr pages) and loved it. Didn't realise there is a canal parapet in the background, where those people are leaning. Gobsmacked to realise it's only a few yards from where I've tied up the boat on more than one occasion. Shouldn't be too difficult for our photo detectives to identify the location.
  2. When we took the boat to John the Paint to discuss what we wanted he was adamant he would never put sand on a boat roof as the extra weight would make a boat too top heavy. No problem for us as we are fine with a non-slip finish. (And I would argue that he knows what he is talking about when it comes to boat painting) ETA Top heavy and potentially unstable. Especially when the roof might be used to store bags of coal etc.
  3. We're picking up 'Red Wharf' from John the Paint at Stourbridge next week. He said he won't put sand on a boat roof as the weight makes the boat too top heavy. ETA Just to add, we wouldn't have asked for a sanded roof. Non-slip for us.
  4. Yeahbut...... What about Peter? 😀
  5. There's a big metal fly(ish) thing just round the corner near the top. Could that be the Hatton Fly?
  6. Bilmey. Four years! I, for one, like this thread and enjoy trying to identify where the locations are before scrolling down to the captions. So, thank you Peter for starting it and another thank you to all who have posted pics.

  9. And there will be cake........won't there? 😀
  10. Yes. And if it's raining 'Red Wharf' might want to do a 'Henry the Green Engine' and stay in the tunnel so as not to get our nice new paint wet! 😃
  11. Yes. We've already thought about that! Haven't seen the boat 'in the flesh' yet but looking at the pics it looks too good to be left out in the rain let alone take anywhere. < Repeat after me, "I am not a shiny boater, I am not a shiny boater, I am not a shiny boater" > 😃
  12. A bit late to the party but the freshly repainted 'Red Wharf' and crew will be pushing for that much coveted and hotly contested second last position. 😀 Posted the entry form yesterday. See you in May.
  13. Yes. It was me that asked. IIRC it was Francis Herne who replied. I was fascinated by the height of that crane!
  14. Some people call it 'street art'. 😠😠😠
