Hi, thanks for your concerns, I have looked up the orders and they are shown below, they have been up two years, but I would take them down if more experienced think they’re a risk. I did point them out on last bss as I explained walls were getting too warm for my liking. But he never really looked at them, just said fire would of got hotter as I had given it a bit of revamp.

I put it up two years ago after the walls seemed to be getting too warm, why do you think I should take it down now, behind and around the fire it is on top of tiled fire board, to reflect heat. Above the boards, has the same effect, why is it dangerous?

It’s cold to touch and reflects heat

Re visiting this topic, couldn’t find anyone to replace flu, three places looked at it, said they would sort it, but then refused after keeping me wait around, Nantwich I was waiting three weeks, and eventually just said he wasn’t going to do job. Overwater, work shop ,wouldn’t commit and messed me around for two weeks, made promises but let me down. So I got a steel band, wrapped it around rusted outer skin( inner skin was intact) then attached two jubilee clips above and below, put heat resistant silicon, over the hole first, and over the out side top and bottom. Painted it black heat resistant paint, and now got it burning away, just keeping an eye on it now. Will try and put b4 and after pic up. Cost me £100. The Morso flu kit I was going to get was about £650, and if I had used those marinas would of been a few ton on top of that, so fingers crossed it works.

When I bought the boat, the pump was knackered he had been using a paella pump to extract the oil, so I bought a new pump off ASAP, so I will have a look for hose tail , and or spigot.

No that’s not my engine, I just saw it on another place, and it reminded me I need that bit, at the moment a little plug screws in there, but I know that bent bit should be there, or available, as I have seen it fitted on the same engine, and makes sense.

Thanks for all replies, it’s just me who reports to crt then for inconsiderate behaviour, I hope more people do it in future, take pics and videos of the same, hopefully to remind people to be considerate. The thread is getting a bit personal, which wasn’t my intention, I was having a moan because I had two days on the run , in different locations of it happening, anyway, let’s all relax and have fun boating, be nice to each other.

On your original question, if you have not got an appetite for potential confrontation then your only alternatives (put up or move) have already been explained to you. Do you have a problem with comprehension? Possibly due to a lack of IQ?
I did explain that I had confronted people on three occasions, and it didn’t go well, so I don’t do that now, I just report to crt. But you did spell I.Q. adequately.

I've spent a career getting people to do what they might not necessarily want to do and there are often subtle means of doing it.
Hmm , Matt Hancock thought the same till he was discovered too.

Timx you said in your OP you wanted to know what other people do. But you attack them if they don't give the right answer, question their IQ, in fact act like a complete idiot.
Just get on with it Tim, complain to CRT if you like but there's no need to be a drama queen online (where you can be very brave lol)
If you really care what people think listen to them, engage with them and have another think about your opinions.
Not expecting that but you might surprise us

@Timx: I gave up reading this thread after page two, but I suspect the reason you've had such unpleasant reactions to trying to talk to those running engines out of hours is because of your utterly rubbish attitude.
But it’s page four..

Why? should I be?? All I was stating was the fact that is something is important enough, do something about it (writing to CRT doesn't really cut it to be honest) and if it isn't,

I have answered that question already

Is this a genuine question (to which the answer is obvious) or
Just another rant against hire boaters?
I have seen this scenario pan out a few different ways, from friendly to obnoxious, what has hire boaters got to do with it, ?
i try to do it in a friendly way, in the best way I see at the time. Being nice is the way to do it every time, even if it inconveniences you.

I suppose that the question for me would be 'what advice were you hoping to get?' For me if something is important enough to do something about, I will, if not I wont. To be honest your report to CRT will probably go straight into the CBA bucket. They don't have anyone working between the restricted hours, nor are they likely to anytime soon so there is essentially nothing that they are going to do about it. So was it important enough for you to speak with the other boater? or not?
I have answered that question already, are you annoyed by me bringing this subject up

I used to send a Mensa request questionnaire to one of my colleagues, but I used to spell his name slightly wrong, and his address out by one number, so his neighbour, would have to keep handing it to him saying , you got your address wrong again,..each month.

If you read the rules , they also state, if you are out in the country with no one else about, you can run your engine outside these rules., you did start off with a reasoned reply, but then let yourself down
Why did you have your I Q tested, who questioned it , and for what reason…..
How many times have you had to have it tested?

Tim i've got a confession to make....
If i was on a remote mooring with no other boats in sight I couldn't give a stuff and if I needed to I would run my engine (and on occasion have) due to duff batteries/for hot water or whatever... however I wouldn't if I was moored close to other boats. Hope that doesn't upset you too much... and before you ask yes I have had my IQ tested and I'm above average (or was at the time years and alcohol may have reduced that a bit now... 🙂 )
Feel free to report me to CRT of it makes you feel better and ill consider this my good deed for the day...
I think you started off with a reasonable question but then let yourself down.

Are you a bullying friend, back up other people to bully people out of their thoughts to agree with yours?

So in their defence, they say, they are intelligent, and they use that as a defence, and I ask, but are they, as their behaviour appears to show otherwise, to question that is rude. How British. However I like Britishness, but it is deployed in this instance without true reason sir.
And I thought running your engine outside the rules was rude, oh well , I am in the minority.
