  10. Police divers search canal for missing Shireoaks boatsman Steven Johnson Published on Monday 10 December 2012 15:41 DIVERS are scouring the depths of Shireoaks Marina and Chesterfield Canal in search of a missing man. Steven Johnson, 61, was last seen at around 7.30pm last Tuesday, 4th December, when he returned to his houseboat after having dinner with a neighbour at the marina. Police are making enquiries with residents in the vicinity and searching the surrounding area. The underwater search team is scouring the marina waters and the wider Chesterfield Canal in search of Mr Johnson. They will also be trawling the depths using special sonar equipment. Mr Johnson is white, of slim build and 5ft 8ins tall. He was wearing sandy-coloured rigger boots and a dark-coloured jumper and trousers. “We are supporting Mr Johnson’s family at this worrying time,” said Det Insp Ash Wilson. “They are understandably very anxious, as it is unlike him to leave without letting them know where he is going.” “He also never goes anywhere without his lurcher dog Dabber, who is being cared for by a friend in her master’s absence.” “We are very concerned for the welfare of Mr Johnson. He had been feeling unwell in the days leading up to his disappearance.” “That, combined with the freezing temperatures, means it is imperative that we locate him.” “If you have seen him or know of his whereabouts, please call us immediately.” Anyone with any information should contact Notts Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

  14. Boxty on the griddle, Boxty in the pan, if you can't make Boxty you'll never get a man." 5 minutes to make Ingredients • 1 lb. of potatoes, grated • 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour • 1 cup milk, preferably 2% or Homogenized • 2 Tablespoons warm water • 1 teaspoon baking soda • 2 Tablespoons butter • 1 cup mashed potatoes • salt and pepper to taste • Note: I always make these when there are leftover mashed potatoes. By doing so it cuts down on prep time. How to make it Soak grated potatoes overnight in cold water to remove the starch. Mix all ingredients together EXCEPT the flour. Mix All-purpose flour in a little at a time with a wooden spoon or your hands Add extra milk if it seems too stiff. Lightly grease an iron skillet or griddle. Drop the mixture onto the skillet by rounded teaspoons. Brown the bottom slightly and then flatten the tops a little bit with a spatula. Depending on what you prefer they can be thick or thinner and crispy. Cook until golden brown. Served with butter or sour cream sandra
  15. Balsamic Glazed Lamb Liver Recipe Ingredients • 1 pound lamb liver, fresh or frozen • 1 pound onions • 2 tablespoons olive or canola oil, divided • 2 tablespoons butter, divided • 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint, or 1 teaspoon dried (substitute rosemary if preferred) • salt and pepper Directions Slice onions thinly and separate into rings. Heat 1 tablespoon oil and 1 tablespoon butter in 12" skillet. Add onions, stir to coat with oil and salt lightly. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until completely soft and light golden brown - about 20 minutes. While the onions cook, slice and trim liver, if butcher hasn't done so. (If slicing whole liver, it's easier if the liver is semi-frozen: put in freezer for 15 minutes or so, then slice about 1/3" thick). Lightly salt and pepper the liver. Chop mint (or rosemary). Remove caramelized onions from skillet to a warm platter. Add 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil to pan and raise heat to medium high. When hot, add liver and cook for 2 minutes. Stir to turn and cook for another minute or two, until just pink inside. Spoon out of skillet onto the onions. Pour vinegar into hot skillet and add chopped mint. Cook, stirring, until vinegar is thick and syruplike. Spoon over meat and onions and serve immediately. sandra
