  1. More than 2, I've counted 9. Was wondering if there was a computer glitch.
  2. Whatever suits, the problem is making sure he's there with a 2nd 'home'. Otherwise you just piss off any moorers!
  3. Time for me to wade in here. The previous owner, who also had his boat moored there, was a generous and happy soul. He was very happy to have boats wind, CRT to moor their work boats there, help out with a very reluctant to move top lock beam and even give away to boaters produce from his garden there. It is now owned by another boat owner, although now it is a 2nd 'home'. The first time I met him was last year when he stopped in his boat to ask about the history of the winding hole, closely followed by the fact that he was in talks with his lawyer to get use of it stopped. Over the next few months he actively strove to achieve this, while, if he was enjoying his second 'home', coming out to shout at anyone who dared use the lock after 5pm in a way that women working the lock found rather threatening. He also persuaded CRT to move the notice on the refuse enclosure to another side of the fencing so that he couldn't see it from his property. Yes, he is within his rights to stop this long used winding hole from being used which thankfully the winding hole owner at Shebdon hasn't done, she is very happy for it to be used. What will happen when boats are stuck by the rather regular stoppages at Woodseaves will be interesting and boaters who are affected by this person's actions are all rather hoping that he'll move away soon. A new owner has got to be an improvement.
  4. Thanks Tonka. No idea why my reply to Rob-M about his duplicate post (FYI) was merged with this though.
  5. See my FYI above! Maybe they haven't as yet signed up to FBW. If you are a member, perhaps you could tell them about it please.
  6. British Canoeing and British Rowing are both members of FBW so will have publicised this event to their members. It has been clarified that unpowered craft are welcome too.
  7. FYI - https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/25856-salvage-turn-birmingham-worcester-and-birmingham-canal
  8. Use this link to join: https://waterways.org.uk/fund-britains-waterways/fbw-activities/fbw-campaign-cruise-form
  9. NBTA have declined to be one of the 30+ groups who have joined, not wanting to support CRT.
  10. We have, along with 50 other boats so far apparently. Should make some good media footage.
  11. Schedule 12 of the 1968 Act gives the lists of commercial and cruising canals, any not on the list would therefore be classed as remainder canals.
  12. Just to point out that it was NABO who initiated this and invited other groups to join together with this one aim. IWA has got the resources that most of the other 34 groups who have so far joined this initiative haven't so it seemed to make sense for them to take on the webpage etc. Of course, if any of you can think of a better way to attempt to get the waterways adequately funded, bearing in mind that there is no alternative authority apart from CRT with all its failings to get behind, then we'd all in FBW support you instead. It's a lot of work so we'd be very grateful.
  13. The Fund Britain's Waterways donation page should appear as separate from IWA donations in the next day or two, it's being sorted!
  14. CRT has stated that the situation was resolved by removing Defra as a 'B' member of the Trust. Does this make any difference to their tax position?
  15. I wish I'd taken a photo of the many mole hills on a roundabout near us with an advert for the local molecatcher alongside them.
  16. Can you provide roughly when this came on please.
  17. As you say, the sources and risks from those sources were not known at the time by those using it. Tragically, a very good friend has lost her haemophilic husband to blood transfusion acquired HIV. The extent of these premature deaths is also unknown.
  18. Please register that you are interested in getting involved at info@fundbritainswaterways[.]org[.]uk. There is a boat gathering to protest in Birmingham 12th/13th August if you could plan to be there for that and another in London, probably November, date to be announced, with a petition to be handed in to Downing Street. Donations welcome to the campaign fund but otherwise, the only costs are getting to the gatherings. Not sure why the email address has been messed with but please take out the brackets to use it!
  19. The protests are targeted at the government and its lack of adequate funding.
