  1. I've not come across stainless steel self drill cs screws We used TEK screws but not sure if in SS probably too brittle.

I've used a lot of stainless steel fittings lately, I find Screwfix the cheapest but their stock range is limited, I've ended up buying smaller quantities from e-bay other than that just hunted out SS suppliers on line.

I only last weekend bought some very nice SS wood screws Torx type cost me over £50 for 400 screws. SS is so expensive just have to shop around.

    thanks for your info steve

  3. I'm not 100% certain, only about 95% that Rich Electric make it. It's almost the same as the previous model that Sterling used to sell with their badge on it (nothing odd about that, everyone does it).

If it is the Rich Electric then they're fine. Normal efficiency and reliability. They're all pretty much the same. A few percent different here and there but nothing you'd ever actually notice in the real world.

Rich do lots of slight variant models for the bigger dealers so you find little differences like a remote panel being different, or on and off switches in different places etc.

That's the UK branch. I'm not totally sure it's actually the same company, it might just be a dealer who use the same name, I don't really know. The manufacturer (the real Rich Electric) is in China or Tawain (can't remember). Of the Chinese manufacturers they are one of the much better ones.

    thanks for info steve

  4. I have one of these. I am repeating myself when this came up some time ago but vastly superior to the diesel heaters. Low power draw, near silent, built in immersion so when on shore line heats the water for heating rads and washing. Very functional control unit. I have the heat exchanger from engine as well so when engine is hot turn on the Alde and it pumps round hot water and uses no gas. In particularly I like the feature that allows a rapid heat up to very hot water, ie not in the calorifier but the Alde itself, does this in very few minutes so you can use this feature to supplement the calorifier water if its not hot enough, use for a shower (when blended with cold) and first thing in the morning when again your tank is probably not very hot. Dors point about the control unit is valid, mines in the engine room which gets warmer when the engine running so can give a false impression of the temp in other rooms, however the control unit has thought of this and you can compensate for in the settings by adjusting it down so for example temp in engine room 25 degrees, everywhere else 20, so reset the unit to 20 degrees even though its sensing 25, will show 20 on the read out, water will be heated to 23, or whatever temp you need and set

Dont know how economical it is but appears to be low on gas consumption (there are figures on their site)
