  1. Thanks for your replies, this really helps. We'll take out the calorifier, and send pictures of any floods! Many thanks, Dik and Neil
  2. Hello Do any of you have a way of securely 'hanging' a bike to the side of your boat? Preferably without having to drill any holes into the steelwork. I'm trying to figure out a way, but if you already have the answer, please let me know. Many thanks Richard
  3. Hello We are trying to free up some much needed space in our bathroom, and would like to know if the cylinder which is connected to the Morso stove and the radiators is important, or part of a redundant water heating system? We would like to remove it as we use a gas water heater. But if it is needed as part of the central heating, then we'll have to rethink. The cylinder doesn't seem to get hot, even when the stove has been on all day. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks Richard and Neil
  4. OK, I think we're settled on a second hand traditional narrowboat now as opposed to a widebeam (Due to a lack of pennies more than anything). So... if you could give us 3 essential pieces of advice for buying a second hand boat what would they be? Thanks!
  5. Thanks for the information everyone. Plenty of food for thought. We hadn't realised how much more expensive widebeams are. I think they're a bit out of our price range to be honest.
  6. Hello We're new to the forum so, "Hello everyone!" We're currently considering buying a narrowboat to live on and think that a widebeam would be more suitable. How much of a restriction would this have on the canals that we could navigate and are there any other downsides to buying a widebeam? Thanks Richard and Will
