  3. Boat thieves aren't good, but I wouldn't wish that on them. Janet
  4. Can I have some of what he's on? Janet

  6. I did the RYA Helmsman's course a couple of years ago with RichardH. Despite having been boating for several years, it was necessary for me to do it for me to be able to conduct hire boat handovers. At the end of the day, I managed to steer the boat, in reverse, for about 300 yards and bring the boat into the bank between moored boats with an audience of watching gongoozlers at the local cafe. I have never been so chuffed! Janet

Ignore? Red rag to a bull with this lot! Thanks for the giggles guys! Janet
  8. Yes Martin, I've tried advanced search...I've been a member since 2006 but I can only find six results for me going back to the end of last year. It worked OK a few months back when I had to delve into my previous topics to get some information, but there's nothing there now. Janet
  9. I'm trying to find some information in a topic I started a couple of years ago, but when I search my content I can't find anything previous to Dec 29th 2014. Anybody have a clue please? Janet

  11. I only have two on my ignore list, both purely because of their particularly annoying style of posting and not because of their content. I am however going to make more use of the ignore function in future... Janet
  12. Wishing you all the very best for 2015. I hope things continue to improve for you. Janet

  14. You appear to have a very low opinion of your fellow forum members. It seems to me when a thread has run for a while with no problems and is suddenly hidden or deleted then it's reasonable to expect a little bit of information as to why. Janet
  15. Unfortunately, the owner of this one wasn't around to ask for permission at the time but I don't think he'd be upset at me posting this as it doesn't give any location details... Canal boats are fair game for photographers...canals and boats just go together so well!
  16. I take a lot of canal photos...boats, scenery etc. Nobody has ever objected, in fact most folk are rather flattered when I approach them, which I always try to do as a simple mark of courtesy. The one rule I have is never to disclose the location of a boat which is obviously unoccupied. Janet
  17. I don't know what you can't use it for, but it's certainly bloody brilliant at removing wax crayon marks from furniture and floors! Janet

  19. That's a cracking looking fish...well done for landing it safely on such light tackle. ...and very well done for leaving the Koi. I know many so-called anglers who would have tried for it, regardless of their set-up. There's a massive carp in the canal near me and every time I see it I just put my rod aside and have a brew and watch it...I'd be hard pushed to land it on my very light tackle and I wouldn't want to try. I'll stick to targettng perch and putting up with my son's comments about worms in the fridge! Janet
  20. Is the Ecover boat still around? I remember on our marathon month long cruise in 2010 giving the guy my empty bottle at the top of a flight of locks and it was waiting for me, refilled, at the bottom! Janet
  21. Can't offer any help I'm afraid, but posting to bring this back to the top so it isn't overlooked. Good luck! Janet
  22. When I first started angling a few years ago with a little beginners kit, I managed to lose my only float on my first cast. I caught a really decent tree though! We were on a camping holiday at the time and there wasn't a nearby tackle shop. My friend made me an improvised float using a drinking straw and Blu-Tac and I caught my very first fish (brownie) with it. I've got a huge collection of "proper" floats now, but nothing to match those beauties! Janet
