  4. If you want a holding coat you really need to use a proper holding primer as most primers are porous. Alternative is a coat of primer and a rough coat of gloss
  5. Am with you on this post, suffering the same. Lets hope its all melted.

  7. Banbury, particularly at 1.40 am when the buggers try to untie you (just south of the water point)!
  8. Sadly, force majeure is likely to apply, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_majeure
  9. You are also forgetting the £200 charge to replace the flue when I break the lining and the fire rope comes away, followed by me tripping into the marina, new clothes etc. A chimney sweep is much cheaper for the guy who spent 3 days in hospital after dropping an open bean can on his foot!
  10. Hi all, I will be looking for a chimney sweep in the new year. Anyone recommend a sweep who can come to mercia marina near Derby? Or, if i needed to do it myself, where would I get the bits?
  11. I was recently advised not to have the shoreline connected with the engine running. Now most are aware I have little practical knowledge on any subject but i was told it is because it can mess with the alternator settings/battery charger. Happy to be corrected/laughed at for being gullible

  13. Did you ever get to the bottom of the rusting after priming? I wondered if it was because the primer was porous?
  14. I am just having a canaline 42 fitted, twin alternator etc etc

  18. Simple answer is read the tin More comPlicatwd answer is be clear about what you need I would use a holding primer if there are delays between primer and undercoat as most primers are porous Then there are the simple compound option zinc phosphate or red oxide Just a couple of tips Lola
  19. Well, just for weekends we will be trotting around the T&M whilst the engine beds in. April Easter hols its a trip to Peterborough (from Mercia), not sure if we go via Leicester or the other way down the coventry, thoughts welcome. Peterborough is a must to drop our oldest at rowing training. Whichever way we go down, we come back the other, suppose it dont really matter then. August its the four counties again, I love it. October, not sure, maybe Fradley and a bit of the Coventry and back again. Weekends its obv more difficult so it will be the usual, Willington to Branston water park, dinner out at the Bridge Inn (well nice). Alternatively we could motor to Beeston and have Pimms (OK pint of Directors) with our brick dwelling neighbours. Then tis winter again and this time I am gonna do a proper winterizing fingy madgig so, thats a decent schedule, which might change if we move moorings in August. If we do then it would give us a change, I fancy cheshire, whats important is that the drive is not too knackering on a Friday. And, of course, gotta fit some boat painting into that schedule. Might just do it if I have enough leave left or if I can do the painting in stages.
