  1. Lumpy Water example : We have a home mooring for which we pay ~£3500 per annum (36' x 14') we pay 30p unit for our leccy, have free showers, free laundry and 24 hour security (staff walking around checking lines etc thru the night). When we go out cruising and choose to use a mooring (rather than just anchor up) the typical charge is £35 per night (Use of toilets, showers, water & electric included). Go coastal 'marina hopping' can get expensive. So £20 a night for mooring up with no 'facilities' doesn't look that bad.
  2. Absolutely - unless the pump is above the tank water level. (My pump is situated on top of the water tank)
  3. If you had just done as suggested and tested the battery first it would have saved you a lot of time and effort. People make suggestions for a planned approach to fault finding for a reason.
  4. Maybe we are wasting our time. She (he, it) visited the site just before lunchtime today, but no comments or response to the questions asked.
  5. Do you have a tin, which should have the RAL or BS paint number, you can then get it made up anywhere that does paint mixing. If not, try giving one of their distributors a call and ask them, OR, just buy another tin of the same : CraftMaster say they do a 'Masons Midnight Blue' - is that the one you find too 'purple' ? Masons - Blues – Craftmaster Paints Online Shop Or - compare your colour to the attached colour chart (bear in mind the colour now will have faded and not be a true match to the original : RAL Colour Chart Blue | RAL Colour Chart UK (ral-chart.co.uk)
  6. Surely, all that anyone wants the NBTA members to do, is to do what they signed up to do !
  7. Exactly - and that is just what they did. However, they have now admitted they were wrong - does that mean the Section 77 action is 'cancelled' because they said 'sorry' ?
  8. Well, they didn't really have much option but to confirm that they answered in 'error' and they had indeed had the previous issue, but, refering to the 'final report' is incorrect as it is titled exactly the same as the previous issue, both being dated May 2023 and both titled "Summary Report". If indeed there are issues titled "Draft Report" and "Final Report" (as quoted by Tom Deards) they have not been disclosed. At least they have admitted the error of their ways and will hopefully learn from it.
  9. Would than not be duplication of what I had already posted - or - maybe in a rush to get your criticism posted you didn't actually read what I posted?
  10. Maybe the problem has gone away - nothing heard back from the OP. @Lizette
  11. Boat insurance (based on the same boat at the same value, same level of cover, same 'UK & European inland and coastal waters', with the same provider) has reduced slightly year on year. 2015 it was £299.48 2024 it is now £278.96. I only see these 'big' insurance increases on house insurance, (increased by about 33% over last year), even the car insurance has changed very little.
  12. The accuracy and / or the information released is really of little relevance - to me the crux of the matter is that C&RT repeatedly lied saying they had never had / seen a previous version of the report, claiming the one publicly released being the only one they had seen. They could easily have said 'yes there was an interim report'. You'd have thought that knowing they have a whistleblower in house (following the amending of the final accounts after being signed off by the board, but before submission to companies house) that they'd be a little more careful with their denials.
  13. In which case how can you comment on something that you have not read ? (O' I forgot for a moment - this is the Canal wold forum.)
  14. What do you think about this one ? Meet the man who has 25 years to pull his PIANO on a BOAT from Liverpool to London A FORMER university lecturer has been pulling his own boat along the Leeds-Liverpool Canal for the past five years as part of an epic journey to reach London by the year 2037. The craft is made of items including wooden planks, freezer doors, disused drawers and is kept afloat by a dozen 55-gallon industry standard blue plastic barrels.
  15. The links are posted in some of the earlier posts - sorry no post numbers to guide you. and via the link in the original post that started the thread. One of the questions This final report is based on the 8,479 responses to the survey, received between 15th February and 6th April 2023. Please provide a copy of all previous reports Resulted in the answer : In response to your request, I can confirm that DJS provided no previous reports to the Trust. Accordingly, the Trust does not hold the information requested

  17. What was published is irrelevant - it is the fact that Senior Managers / Directors cannot be trusted to tell the truth. In which case - how can we believe that the income of C&RT is insufficient to keep the canals open rather than some of it is being syphoned off elsewhere. Its like the little boy crying wolf - they have now been caught out at least twice, so what credibility do they have now ? (obviously it has no effect on the perception of the C&RT apologists).
  18. It is not a case of the board deciding what information they wished to release - it is a case of they have proven themselves to be unreliable, untrustworthy, and prepared to alter the facts to suit the situation. You would have thought they would have been a little more transparent after being caught changing the annual accounts AFTER they had been approved and signed off by the board. I repeat - they TWICE put in writing that they had never had / seen any previous issue of the report (with the full survey results) before they were given the 'Final' issue that was published. Subsequently it was found that in fact the board had seen the earlier 'final' issue.

  20. Are you sure is was the Cyrils ? Our mooring is under some Oak trees, and when they are 'ripe' the tree 'projectile vomits' its acorns with a sould like a muffled shotgun. They don't half hurt if they hit you in full flight. Apparently its natures way of ensuring the new oak tress will far enough away from the mother tree to give them a good chance of survival.
  21. You can call me Tony ! What is the battery voltage reading when you are trying to start the engine ? Are all connections on the battery and on the starter motor 'gorilla tight' ?
  22. I'm not really surprised, I know that because of their reputation and 'quality' I had to book 18 months in advance. I'm sure it'll all go well for you, Langley Mill have a strong following so they must be doing "summat right"

  24. And for C&RTs 'joint venture property' expenditure they have noted ................. Losses of £7.0m (2021/22: £nil) have been experienced in the joint venture interests. Not 'book values', but actual expenditure against income.
