  1. Hi. Can not comment on 2&3, but am in the last stages of selling my property and have been looking at a NB. He is wanting £xxxxxx amount, but I am not making an offer until I get a survey and a valuation, the valuation you can get at the same time as the survey if you ask for it. Once I have both, and it is up to spec, I will make an offer based on the survey and valuation, as the valuation might be lower than the offer you might have made in the begining.
  2. Hi. Been looking at Axiom propellers for a while, most of the reviews seem to be in favor of them, not getting one at mo, but when my prop drops into the cut, or I lose a blade, or my numbers come up on the Lottery, Axiom it is. Then this comes up. "Powerstop", www.propellersolutions.co.uk, seen in Canal World, says 50% more stopping power, less prop walk, more control in reverse. Has any one got one? seen one? or any views? Many thanks. PS. no connection.
  3. Hi, newby question again, you said a pressure wash, is this normal for a survey or do you have to ask for it to be done, also when the serveyor scrapes the hull to test the hull thickness, do you have to have it repainted over the mark. I'm sure yes, but is it done automatically or do you have to ask? and does it cost?
  4. Hi, as a newby, what is the correct way to make an offer? Do you make an offer, (subject to survey), with refundable deposit, or, this is my thinking, have a servey done, with refundable deposit, and as the survey would have, if asked for, include a valuation of the boat, then you could make an offer based on the combined survey and valuation, or would the seller want an offer before the survey was done, even though the valuation might be lower than the offer? Many thanks.

  7. Hi, have been looking at a NB, but she's just not quite right, please do not answer if you don't want to, but what is the cost for your re-fit. Many thanks.
  8. Hi, did a three day course with Terry and found it to be most informative and usefull, he taught me things I haden't even thought of, paddle steering, steering in reverse, steering forward, rope work, daily engine checks, lock work, winding, how to get unstuck from a bank, single handed sailing, and much more. Highly recommended. P.S. have no conection with Terry. Should have added that he can train you on your own NB.

  10. Hi, was having probs with AOL, and guy rang saying if I was having probs with my computer it could be due to errors and he could check my computer if I typed in commands, this, (not having my thinking head on as I thought it was a geek from AOL,) I did and a list of errors came up and he said he could cure this for X amount of £s. It's a scam. Don't let him access your computer by remote, which he wanted to do. Sounds like the same chappy. Hope this helps.
  11. Hi, same question, but was thinking of swivel bracket thingy. Can't just put that to ply, don't think.
  12. Looks good, but at £185, I think I will rely on my land shark.

  19. Hi. Well done, when I went on a canal boat training course, we found a canal boat that had slipped its moorings, the instructor, myself and other trainees, spent 30 mins or so securing the boat again. The instuctor had just helped a fellow boater, and did not think it unusual. But one of the crew did mention that if any thing was to happen to any one after we had left due to the rescue, ie. ropes, pins, planks etc. the instuctor might be libel under "Tort" law. Didn't know what that meant, still don't, did google it, but brain went bye-bye, but seems if you do something that causes injury, no matter how well intended, you could be libel.
  20. Hi. Looking to buy a NB as my home for the next 10-15 years. Is it resonable to ask for a three day trial, providing that it's not being used as a live a board, so I can check everything that would not be apparent in a 2hr visit, fuel useage, engine, batteries, ease of handeling, leaks, etc,. On the understanding that If an offer was not made, the time would be paid for. Or is this a request too far?
