  1. john6767 Thanks for the tip on the warwickshier ring. i will look in to that one. would you say that it is a ruarl or urban suronding on it?
  2. HI Boaters I have been asked by friends and family to arrange a new boating holiday in England. (done Wales and Scotland) For 4 of us this will be our 5 trip. and for 4 others are doing this for the first time. We have done alot of boating around Chester-Birmigham-Stoke area and are now looking for a new area to discover. The trip will be one week. maybe 10 nigths but it migth be pushing it for the newcomers.... i would love to do a ring so any suggestions on ring dueabel in one wekk would be greatly appriciated. If not a ring i would wish for a strech of canal (out and return) that has nice small towns and pubs alng so you dont have to stop at the same place going back as going out. and offcourse lovely scenory but that availbal almost anywere in the country side of England. and last if you know any great hier comanies along the suggested route would also be great. so bring me your gems ? Best regards Tom
  3. ok thnaks again for your invalubal information. good to know that we are not that far of in the budget part at least. i read on some boats i bin looking at that they have done a Blacking. could you explain that for me please.
  4. Thanks alot. great to get some numbers to work with. take away the mooring and add up on the disel and gas i would end up in the region of 600£ a month. dose that sound reasenobal. great job to get these numbers together. im sure it will. thank you.
  5. thank you. this is jut the kind of input i like. things to have in mind while looking around. how mutch is a BW licens for a 58ft? the swedish is not somtihng i will miss that mutch. all my favorit shows are from you over there. top ger, midsommer murderers, grand designs....... a cover on the front and back i have allredy discoverd during my holidays on the canal so far. thanks again for great tips along the the way. if you are coming up with any more pleas post them.
  6. Yes this is genuine. i relly like your advice. the belloning part wold be a plessure for me to do. the mony part im trying to work on. How mutch dose it cost a normal month to live on the canlas. food, disel, pump out,.......
  7. About the Swedish canal called Dalslands kanal and the bigest one calld Göta kanal. these canal are beatuful and Göta Kanal is to 90% man maid to make a water way frome east to west of sweden for transports. it is still in this day used for alot of transports of goods. and on the other hand the Dalslands Kanal is the most beatiful one and more quiet a popular holiday target for the swedish people. i would be happy to awnser more questions you migth have about sweden. the down side of the swedish canals are that there are only these 2 so we dont have your imressive network and aspecily not your fabuilus narrowboats how dose it work with TV licens and BW licens when you are CC ing and dont have a fixed point for mail and so on???
  8. Thank you mandy thats a good advice about the 58 foot legth. if this becomes a reality it will be me my wife and our dog and as littele belongings as possible. thtas the reason i whant a canal boat life to reduse our stuff we dont relly need 2 cars machines and a barn full of stuff. life on the canals seems a bit less complicated then it dose on land. how mutch money do you think you speen on average a month when your living on the canals? im fairly confident in my sterring but i im looking for somthing around 40-50 foot. stern i have not thogth about yet boot that migth be somthing to think about as well. i thinking alot of the BW licens. how dose that work. is that a yearly fee to pay or is it a one time cahrge? we are planing on crusing the entier network. but nothing is written in stone. all is just planing and dreaming at this point.
  9. i must say you all are werry quick to replay. just bin out for a littel bit and loads of different coments. i m sorry if my english spelling is not perfect but i asume its better then your swedish sweden in swedish is Sverige. and yes there are some trolls in sweden but you have seem to get one to england as well i belive he is named Ronney or somthing of that nature. there are no sutch things as Swdish Narrow boats. thats why we have the intrestst of english narrowboats. thank you john for your look on the toilet issue. and if someone has time i would like som more pointers on what to think about when getting a boat or living aflote. talk to you all later
  10. thnak you for yor look on things. just reed a little of your daiery and it souds like a grwat way of life. migth be a dumb question but what kind of toilet do you prefer. pump out or pota potti?
  11. Hallo all. Tom and Åsa from sweden here. we are such fans to your waterway system and cant relly get enugh boating in on our holiday. so we have bin disscusing to maybe by a boat and move to england when we now are planing on selling our house. but of course we are no experts an are lokking for some helpful tips to think about when first bying a narrowboat. and second living on the canals. are there charges from the BW that will need to be considerd in the budget, what do you think the ideal length of the boat shuld be? we are looking to spend somthing like 20-40K depending on the winnings on the house. any thugths or experinces are welcome. one more question. are you alowd to just cruse around the canals for a year or the rest of you life without having a morring placed fixed. im just thinking about mail and that kind of stuff. take care and lokking forrward to many inresting posts on this
