  1. yeah the spelling is pretty bad, combination of dyslexia, typing in a hurry in a iphone and not bother to read what was written. oh well. im pretty surprised that there is no one that keeps them in stock. i suppose it is really a a pretty niche thing but i just didnt it expect it to be taht niche! thanksd for the links and pointers.
  2. This is all great advise thanks. i think ill go with the wickes underlay due to noise, bump and gap reduction, may not get the water proof stuff as i know the floor will need to breath. i have planed to make some small panels with brass finger pull out thingys for access.
  3. Hi, if fitting engineered floorboards would you use underlay in your narrowboat? Thanks Rory
  4. Hi can anyone post some link to sites where i can buy the wooden interior port whole frames in a nice hadwood? Thanks
  5. So i actually only asked for recomendations, see the highlighted sentance below: One person actually had the good grace to offer one: Cheers Bottle.
  6. Yes I'm sure. I'm just looking for recommendations. I posted about this before and got the same responses that were ultimately not helpful. The pump is faulty. Can we move on from that? I've but up with long enough and done very conceivable thing one can think of to get the existing pump to work to know full well that it's faulty.
  7. P.s. I have found this on eBay item no.: 251689879734 But it seems to cheap to be good. Magnetman, I have checked every other part of the water system and I'm 100% sure it's the pump that if faulty. I defiantly now need a reliable domestic pump, not a leisure pump.
  8. Hi all. For a really long time now I have had problems with a fresh water pump I installed as a replacement some 2years ago. It simply does not work properly. We often have to wait for 10 mins or open all the taps to get the automatic pump to begin to pump. No there no dial on the pump to change the pressure setting. We tried a expansion tank but this has made no difference. The pump is a shurflo, I'm no convinced it's faulty as the problems existed from installation. Does any one have a good recommendation for a solid live aboard water pump that will be good for showers land other domestic use?
  9. Iv'e been using seasoned wood and homefires smokeless coal. I'm gonna check again for a blockage. got a co2 alarm but its not been going off.
  10. Thanks for all the input. this is a link to the stove i have: http://www.hunterstoves.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=110&Itemid=810 im sure the flue and the baffle are clear. we have been using seasoned wood to start and coal to go over the night. even when its not windy there seems to be smoke pouring out when we open the door to the stove, just not enough draw to pull the smoke. its a pain because every thing in the boat ends up smelling of fire. i wondered if it was that the flue was too short. im going to give this a go. there is a baffle i may try it without the baffle and see what happens.
  11. My water pump often takes ages to pump water through., i have checked the system for leaks, added a compression tank and still the problem persists. there is no way to adjust the pressure on the pump. the pump is not that old and the problem has been going on pretty much since i first installed it. Do you think i just have a faulty pump or i need a hight power pump?
  12. nice bit of seasoned horthorn, ash or oak, topped up with a bit of home fires coal to go through the night.
  13. my little reggy loves it. new spot every two week or more, places to explore, rodents to terrorise, but we do try to stop near greenery for him.
  14. hi My stove has been kicking out loads of smoke whenever i open the door to put more wood and coal. I'm sure this didn't happen that much before. Recently the smoke has been even kicking back out through the top vent. Im sure the flu is not blocked as i have cleaned it out. any ideas why or how how to stop it? Thanks Rory
  15. Any one know why my New LED lights keep flickering and how to stop it? They are running off 2 12v gel leisure batteries, the fuzes are those bloody annoying glass things. All suggestions would be most grateful. Best Rory
  16. Thanks to both of you, I'm talking to the guy Roy the steel on eBay already but I was hoping there might be other options so that I could gauge how good this Roy is and or get better plans etc. just trying to shop around.
  17. Hi I'm a welder fabricator. I'd like to build my own narrow boat. Well actually I'd like to build two 60ft butties and a small tug/push. Does any one now a good supplier for plans and cutting profiles? Thanks
  18. Ok so it turned out there was a leak. I have water under the floor boards! But I have replace the leaky T junction and the pump works fine. Now to pump out the water. Bloody boats.
  19. the data on it reads: SHURflo 3901-0213 12v fuse: 7.5 PSI: 30 Amp: 5a Flow gpm/lpm: 0.3/11.3 2054562 282/732 mfg 06-10 dont know if that helps.
  20. Hi There, I have a SHURflo fresh water pump. it was new last july. since installing it, it has not worked properly. the pump cannot be heard and the water does not come out of the tap once its fully open for 2 or 3 mins. The strange this is sometimes it works immediately. Does anybody have any suggestions as to why this is happening or how it can be remedied? Best Rory
  21. Hi im have pretty good ventilation but do often still get quite a lot of condensation on my windows. i was thinking maybe getting a dehumidifier but have no knowledge of any. im running on 12v electric, with 2x 220amp hour batteries, with on 90w solar panel providing a pretty good continuous feed of 1 to 2 amps as well as the engine alternator. at present i have not had to turn the engine on to top up the electric as the panel has kept me going well. i would consider getting another panel. what i dont want is a monster of a dehumidifier that will gobble up all my batteries or one that is so small that it does not really collect any moisture, does such a thing exsist? shore power is not an option.
  22. MSO had planned to sub the engine work out to a guy called John Read. he took the fuel pump to a place called CJ diesel to have it refurbished, and they took nearly a month instead of a week to get round to it. by that time John was busy with other work and is still not able to give me a date of when can he get onto it for me. i told MSO i would look for another mech and they said they did not mind. thanks, ill give him a ring.
  23. i have actually done the needle gun and wire brush work on a much larger dutch barge with a friend. that was a big job. i think nearly 3 weeks solid, 140ft by 15ft. my little 45fter wont take anywhere near as long as that and im confident that the finnish will be near perfect. besides i will have the time for it. but thank you for the heads up. it is duly noted.
  24. i had planned to needle gun and grind it with a wire brush attachment. do you not think that will do? great, are they 5lter tins?
