This tunnel is in constant use by pedestrians and cyclists going to and from the university, the hospital and city centre. The arch of the tunnel restricts the height above of the towpath to a great degree as you can see. This makes the useable width very narrow and impossible for two cyclists to pass easily. It also makes it unsafe for a pedestrian to pass a cyclist. . I understand and sympathise with the arguments about retaining historic structures but if it was my Granddaughter using this towpath regularly to get to university I would want to know that it was safe for her to do so. The canals and towpaths should be safe for all​ users whether or not they make a financial contribution. Converting this short tunnel to one-way working would, in my opinion, do nothing to damage either it's structure or it's historic value.

Very upsetting for those involved. Let's hope it can be sorted out by insurance.

I feel sorry for the dogs that just get the same thing from one big bag day after day even if it is a 'complete' dog food. We believe in giving our dogs plenty of variety. Wet food (Pedigree) is the basic food we give them, supplemented with a biscuit mixer and occasional dried food. It might be James Wellbeloved, Royal Canin, Purina , whatever is on offer. Then we give them treats such as gravy bones, scrambled egg etc. and lots of veg in the form of carrot, cabbage stalk, cucumber and the like.

I used regular ceramic tiles and applied them with Gripfill, a solvent-based adhesive which comes in a cartridge - Screwfix stock it. Then I grouted them with a standard white cement grout. I've had no problems with it and it's been done about 6 years now.

Look on the bright side. You had a radio/player with a really annoying intermittent fault. If you can't fix it , at least it'll be nice and quiet.

I'm sympathetic to your situation. Life is hard for the young people of today but begging, which is what this is, is not a solution to your problems. I advise you to think again. Many people work for a lifetime and cannot afford to buy a boat worth £6K, let alone £60K.

Are you intending to light the stove every time you want to boil a kettle, even in summer? Or maybe you have some alternative method of boiling water in mind.
