  1. I have been using them in a USB Dongle, and a wifi Dongle as well! I t also works on a 3g dongle and 3g wifi, you don't have to have a 4g one! I started one Sim a month ago and they sent me a mail saying that they have given me another 100gb! If you have used a free Sim before and want another, it might be prudent to use a different e mail address and if you can work it, a different postal address too! Nipper
  2. Yes, and those much better Mooring are set at the same price! I'm there now! As ever, no rings and you have to put your pins in whilst stepping through the goose shyte!! Nipper
  3. These ladders are proper ladders, like what you go up your roof with! I think they have them because they can be put exactly where the person in the water is! With the proposed need to ring 999, i expect the rescuers will use exactly the same, but about 15 minutes later, to get the drowned person out! Nipper
  4. Not too bad if you save up the vouchers!
  5. The end to The river Thames lock keepers Ladders! I went through a lock today on the Thames, on the side were a gaggle of chaps and a camera man, filming! Word has it that it was the BBC news team filming boats through a lock, including my boat, for a news program about the Lock Keeper Ladders. Apparently the Health and Safety people, have deemed that this Ladders are too dangerous to be used in an event of someone falling into the lock, because they could hurt someone, and are wanting them taken away! In place of these Ladders, apparently, In the event of someone falling into the lock, one will have to dial up 999 and request Help! Honestly, you couldn't make it up could you! In any event, don't shoot the messenger! Nipper
  6. Those of you that have "Done the Thames" will be aware that the best place to stop in Reading for shopping is in Tesco's at Kings Meadow! A free mooring for shopper outside the very doors of Tesco's. Well, not any more, charges are being levied on moored boats the same as at the Park above Caversham Lock! All this is done, apparently by Reading Council, who it appearers, really don't want cruising boats, including the Hire boats to moor in there posh town! Nipper

  8. I did get help! I'm cruising a Narrow Boat now! Nipper
  9. On similar lines. I sailed into Lulworth Cove many years ago. It was quite busy with small boats and three quite large training Ketches all at anchor. I went around and around trying to work out where anchors were, which can be difficult in the Cove because the wind can go around in circles, stirring the boats like froth on a coffee cup. Eventually I picked a spot and let out my anchor, tried to dig it in, but I wasn't happy, so pulled it up and tried again, this happened three times, to the great amusement of the three crews of the Ketches. Eventually the anchor dug in and I felt happy with it and was awarded a loud cheer from all! About 5-30 in the morning, I woke to an increasing wind and a need to use the heads, whilst standing, doing what I wanted to do, I looked out the heads hatch, to see three Ketches drifting by at quite a speed, then lots of scantly clad crew running about all over the ketches shouting and having a rather distressing time! I quickly made my way to my boats cockpit, stood, and applauded all three as they passed me on there way out of the cove with anchors and chains dangling! I think the modern word is Karma! Nipper
  10. Well, It seems i was wrong! 50 years of believing what i was taught, and i was wrong! I think i have been wrong before, but really can't remember when! Nipper
  11. Yes, but if your a 21.3 or 69'10" then there 8 including the 21.336 or 70ft ones! Does the 2" make all that much difference to Cart? Nipper
  12. Um! I indeed said, PVA and ment PVA! It may have changed lately, but that was what i lernd at Collage! You know, the grown up school as apposed to the kiddies school were us lerned to speel! Nipper
  13. The difference between Marine Plywood and WPB Plywood is the quality of infill. Marine plywood has a quality control, controlling the gaps allowed between sections of infill, which means that all the layers making up the inner ply are tightly put together with no, or very little gaps. WPB plywood is made and put together as the maker wants, so it could have, and i have seen 2" gaps between the sections of horizontal layers, making he whole sheet a lot weaker than the quality controled Marine ply! Both types of plywood are put together with the same glue, ie Water Proof and Boil Proof, WPB! Known as PVA glue! Well, thats what I learned when i did my apprenticeship as a Carpenter and Joiner, But they had just invented electricery then! Nipper
  14. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/notices/winter The above should work on the new internet explorer, whatever they called it, it dosn't work on my Maxthon Browser. I dont use anyother browser so i don't know about them! Works for me this morning! Nipper
  15. Yes, the distance from the fulcrum of the crane to the fulcrum of the bridge was about at most 20 meters. If that! Nipper
  16. That one says the most! albeit sideways! Nipper
  17. The crane at West Mills Swing bridge! Sorry but it seems to be the wrong way around!
  18. Yes, your right, but i may as well repeat what i said on another thread, because Cart don't get many praises, but today was a good day for them and worth saying it twice! "But your right, what a humungus crane it was, to my mind, well over killed But I'm through and so is everyone that wanted to be! And yes, well done CART. Every boat was chatted too in a very friendly way whilst waiting their turn. The banter was wonderfull and i believe that every one was happy, with the exeption of the first boat West Bound who gave, very loudly, his complete selection of expletives towards the Cart manpower, much to the crowds annoyance and disgust, which marked him out to be a complete and utter Tos..r! A good job well done! Nipper
  19. Um! I really think you should get out more Bizzard. Nipper
  20. Thats fine! But your right, what a humungus crane it was, to my mind, well over killed But I'm through and so is everyone that wanted to be! And yes, well done CART. 22. I believe it was fitted from new, Thats all i can say about it! Makes it really easy! Nipper
  23. I think the fisherman i saw yesterday was untill i came along, he certainly exercised his vocal chords accusing of taking up the whole of the Kennet and Avon! I vented back that i only wanted 6ft 10" of it, cus the other 70 ft will be following close behind! I never seen a man go so red with frustration and anger! Nipper
  24. I have a beta 50 with a cocoon and hospital silencer, so I presume it's what your on about! Oil changes are easy as i have a lift pump that is connected to the engine sump and the gearbox sump and operated by two valves. The hard part is to change the oil filter! That is situated right down the bottom right hand corner of the engine, wedged in between the engine mount and the fan belts! This has to be done whilst in the squat position in the swim, not an easy job if your of handsome proportions like my self! Most other service points are at the top of the engine. One rather nice point in having a quiet engine is that i can creep up on fishermen and if i'm in the mood, sound the horn at a reasonable (close) distance. I just love the reaction! Nipper
