  1. oh! sorry about that, have a D instead of the T! Oh! sorry if you think that was an accusation cus that don't look like that to me!! Still, different strokes for different folks!
  2. Yes, but you didn't advertise did you! Thats all i am trying to say. Then i bow to you superior knowledge and bit you farewell! people on this forum who are not allowed to advertise the fact that they are boat movers, making a living! or trying too, who cannot advertise! what accusation did i make in that statement? they are not allowed to advertise they're business on the forum!
  3. I really don't know what your on about now! Dan to look into what? i know no boat mover who has advertised on here accept the OP .And saying i do is surely a bit of a slur! As you very well know, word gets around by "word of mouth", or in simple terms, somebody recommends! Is that understandable to you?. Then maybe you have missed the diction, the same as you seem to have missed the point as well!
  4. Yes thats fine, most people would do that, but you are not advertising the fact, nor probably want to do somebody else's, let alone for free!
  5. I have names and they are probably the names that you have. But naming them, of coarse, would surely break the forum rules, as you very well know!
  6. " If the business model was flawed" What? how dare someone want paying for doing something! I'll avertise that i will do it everything for nohing and all will be right with the world! Ah! A voice of reason! Thank you dor! And Texas
  7. No, i am not, but to come on here and advertise the fact that they can do it for nothing, where we have people on this forum who are not allowed to advertise the fact that they are boat movers, making a living! or trying too, who cannot advertise! As has been said, a contract makes a stab at binding the mover to the owner, but that involves far more than chucking a set of keys to a stranger! Also, what sort of person would give there pride and joy to an amateur not knowing them from adam. Perhaps they are the ones that would try and get someting out of the people that are moving that boat. The movers are open to all sorts of accusations especially without a contract!
  8. Thank you Athy. so it seems, but i wonder if you were the one who's business lost out to someone who didn't charge, what would you be saying as the bailiffs were approaching your boat?
  9. Totally agree! I was trying to say the same in my uneducated way, but without actually saying it! Well done! Nipper
  10. Oh! I see, so the none advertising rule sentence that i said now becomes my wish word does it? And that comes from a moderator! Ee! Gods!
  11. Yes, i have been on this forum long enough to know who they are, and i don't think i mentioned that i was wishing, did i? But, carry on putting words where there not! I'm easy! Nipper
  12. Yes, but methinks thats another topic! But, in theory, who is in charge and giving the instructions! I would like to think that a well experienced canal man was, but maybe that is just a dream! Nipper
  13. Yes, Ii understand where your coming from, but what your doing is totally undercutting all those in the delivery business! I had the very same in my business, in the end i just had to give up because i was continually being undercut by retired people with no insurances, including Public Liability, not much experience, but they liked the idea, then making complete hash of things, then coming cap in hand for information and help!! All work has some experience involved. Experience that you don't get taught, but has been learned in a lifetime of doing that work. As i said, carry on, but please don't rub the professionals noses in the dirt whilst your doing it! Be quiet and discrete, because when the sh..t hits the fan,and it will, those profesionals might be there to help! As an aside, i didn't think the forum allowed advertising! Nipper Indeed!
  14. Perhaps those that try to make a living delivering boats, and there are some on this forum, would club together and send you some Sunday lunch tomorrow, oh! and what about your dog, would you like them to feed that too! Your taking away the bread and butter of those that have far more experience than you. They also pay national insurance, work insurances and taxes where appropriate too. And what if you break down, or have another problem, are you gonna sort that out like the professional will, using a well tried network of fellow professional boaters or are you going to call out CRR? By all means do it, but don't advertise it in front of there faces on here! It's not like me to have a rant on here but I felt it was needed! Nipper
  15. I went up he Slough Arm yesterday, apparently every boater must do it in their lifetime! Well, I've done it, so I don't have to do it again, Thankfully! Anyway, there was lots of room with quite good depth for a 70 footer. It was after Largo made her turn that I saw it! A nice big brand new sign stating that there was Winter Moorings there. Now, those that know that particular Arm will be aware that the nearest Water Point will probably be at the services at Cowley Peachy Marina, also the Elson and Pump Out would be there too. There are no pubs in the close area, Pearsons say there is, but there isn't,, and nothing else really except a Jewsons builders yard. Now! What idiot decided that this spot was good for a Winter Mooring and that someone with a 70 footer would be willing to pay £13-50 a meter to stop there, that's £287.95 for a month to stop somewhere that anyone could stop for 14 days for free! So in actual fact the moorings would cost that money for just two weeks! Utter Madness! Nipper Edited to change a there, to a their

  18. Is it because your a marked man for upsetting CART's schedule at he lock flight? Nipper
  19. All it was was a duplicate thread! don't start worrying! The only people to join that thread was the OP and the mod that closed it! Too late, I took too long!
  20. I think the mess makers have had long enough to move there toot! When I was cruising the Kennet and Avon a month or two ago, CART had been about tagging with notices all the rubbish on the tow paths. There were great heaps of timber covered with tarps piles of cycles in the undergrowth, great heaps of scrap metal, tables and chairs and even a boat with a tag on, but that was, I think, because of all the timber on the roof that was growing large bushes and shrubs. I think the Facebook report has taken a few liberties to embellish the situation, but I have seen some pictures a month or two back on the Kennet and Avon face book page that show items with notices on childrens bikes etc! But these should not be on the tow path anyway! Nipper

  22. We spent Christmas at the top of the locks in the paved area by the winding hole! There was a little noise, but that was to be expected by all the footfall in that area, never the less, the attitude of all was that it was Christmas, all were happy and festive.. It also has the advantage of being very close to the main town and for the first time ever, M and I had a beer on Christmas morning in one of the very good pubs in town! An enjoyable place, pity we were the only ones moored there! Nipper
