  13. If you are in CRT water they are very likely to act. If you are in Peel water (the Bridgewater) they are near certain to act. The EA will act, once they notice. N

  24. A couple of things are for certain. The capacity in batteries just isn't there at the moment therefore the range is abysmal. The infrastructure isn't there to warrant the, massive, extra cost of electric power compared to convential propulsion means. The, massive, extra cost of purchasing an electric vehicle, be it a car or a boat, is absolutely prohibitive unless you have a load of disposable money. You will never convince the electric enthusiasts of any of the arguments. It would be HUGELY unlikely that any of them would say that they were wrong, a bit like the compost bog arguments. Eventually we will all go electric because that is what various governments want. Eventually either the infrastructure will be there along with the efficiency of electric vehicles or some other technology will have taken over, which is what I think will happen. I'm sticking with petrol for the time being and it is highly unlikely that I will change my mind before I peg it. I do not have a boat any more and I'm not likely to have another one so, for me, electric or diesel boat is a moot point. But as for cars I will not have an EV or a hybrid until I am forced to. My daughter's partner, who is disabled, has had to have an MG EV as mobility only supplies EVs now apparently. this MG is claimed to be one of the best for mileage on a full charge. That claim is 300 miles. This is a manufacturer's claim and in actuallity it will be significantly less.

  31. I think what ever advice the poster is given he’s going to argue and ignore. Hopefully he’ll do what he thinks is right and get fined

  34. Today 2022 Tintagel. Vile weather today. All plans for a walk around the castle and Merlins Cave were put off! Next time.

  37. I would be sympathetic to your proposal if all boaters ere leisure boaters but I do still try to take into account the needs of those who live permanently aboard many of whom may not have the resources to install a new shower and to heat it.

  38. Anyone remember those piano-smashing competitions where they had to be broken up and passed through a circular ring? I'm thinking porthole here... 😉

  39. Yes! Sadly proper pianos are virtually worthless nowadays, unless they are something special like previously owned by someone famous or built by a top flight maker, e.g. Steinway. One usually has the pay to dispose of them, rather than sell them. Maybe the whole boat sale is a fiendish scheme to get rid of it.

  40. You do know that all the rapid charger suppliers have recently announced big price rises (e.g. +50%), don't you? The quoted figures were after these rises which is what people will be paying in future, your figures were before the rises took effect... https://www.smarttransport.org.uk/news/latest-news/rise-in-energy-prices-hits-those-who-use-rapid-chargers-the-most https://www.driving.co.uk/news/osprey-increases-prices-to-1-per-kwh-for-ev-charging-amid-soaring-energy-costs/

  42. My problem is I have that much solar that its difficult to judge how much I use the generator, often it was just to get hot water on the last 2 trips, winter time we are going for a few cruises so then I will be able to judge better how much its used to generate for propulsion. I do know that the genny can keep up easily with the motor when I had a play at the beginning

  44. You really dont add anything to the forum with your constant aggressive opposite stance to anything CRT-wise discussed. Alan is referring to the ongoing CRT management failure of the Volockies, not the lockies themselves. I stick by my previous summing up of your character.

  47. There are hire boaters out there with more experience than myself. I’m getting lost in your arguments now, you need to stop swirling you arms and calm down. Ever thought of volunteering? I have actually 😂 The Rochdale is really needy, I think. And the Rochdale (up from Manchester) would be a good use of volunteer resources if ever CRT want to encourage boating. There’d be no glamour, just a hard graft requiring an understanding of water control. And yeah, I am beginning to think it’s a slippery slope with volunteer lockies regards a complete take over.
