  7. I dont like the term snowflake, it just seems an lazy put down of someone you dont agree with. The use of woke confuses me. It is used as a dismissive put down in a similar way but a definition includes being alert to injustice in society. I would hope that something we would all aspire to, regardless of any political persuasions

  18. Re--Cat Litter. Remember not to dabble it about with your paws too much after you've been on it and scatter the litter all about everywhere.

  30. Hi. Just an update. Maffi- I know you were in Oxford but thanks anyway. I called Canal River Rescue and although the guy did not replace the belt . He tightened the belt and took me through what I need to do and what size belt I need and I feel happy about doing it now He also started my engine which means I can have heating and hot water. Another thing I have learnt. Thanks to everyone for your comments and help. One day I shall post something, other than requests for help- lol!

  38. I think that implication is hardly fair. I am sure lady G knew it had a rudder and probably that the blade was firmly in place but for a prospective purchaser to note any ore than that is, I feel, over the top. Are you sure that you could spot a rudder stock that had been welded and ground off flushish? Coming from the yachting world is t fair to expect her to know all the variations of rudder implementation, top bearing, and how the tiller and stock may be connected, apart from its all there and works? Not everyone is as technically aware and experienced as you are.

  46. Absolutely. Trotsky was Jewish, so that proves it. And that Jesus? Talk about a snowflake. And you couldn't get more left wing than that Hitler bloke, ran that Socialist party back in the day, so that proves it even more. How did we get into this ignorant nonsense from throwing bikes into a canal? Political drivel belongs in the section reserved for such stupidities, not general boating. Or the sport of bike chucking.

  47. I have a centre line on mine. It's a line running up from the bow cleat, up onto the roof and over the windscreen into the cockpit. I have a fairlead screwed into each handrail and can step off, drop the rope into the fairlead on whichever side I want, and tie up on lock bollards, etc. When tying up properly, the center line reverts to being the bow line.

  48. So.... this theoretical boat, chances are that if its say, up to 10 years old, its probably OK below the water. Maybe 10 -15 years old, showing some pitting and problems starting to build. Older than that, I would start to get nervous and increasingly nervous up till maybe 30 years old and then I would expect some overplating and probably more needed soon. That is by absolutely no means reliable but its what I would expect. This means that you could reasonably pay for an in water survey and assume the below water condition from the above. If you do this please don't sue me if your 8 year old boat has no paint below the water and awful pitting. On the other hand if I am about right a nice red wine would be appreciated.
