As a general rule, never go for the electric version of anything that heats up. Heating stuff demands a lot of energy, canes your batteries and 12V heating energy is feeble. Kettles are a good eample. The 170W kettle performance will be pathetic. Use a kettle on a gas ring.

It looked freshly dumped of you know what I mean!….had the same at norbury last year….one bin was full…bags were dumped on the ground yet loads of space in some of the other bins…I just put some gloves on and had it tidy in 5 mins. The reality is some people including boaters are scruffy arses that can’t be bothered and hope someone else sorts the mess out.

I've got an inflatable mattress as a guest bed. They're all much of a muchness and really only suitable for the occasional night.

At over 10 amps draw, I bet the socket and plug will get hot and suffer a shortened life, quite apart from the effect that current draw would have on the batteries. I would suggest that you probably only have one domestic battery on a boat that size, so stick with the kettle on the gas.

Still stinks, I never ran a company like that. Still made enough, and friends, and regular customers, and manufacturers and slept well. And people enjoyed working for me, never had a staff problem.

I hate drinking tea out of a flask so we got one of those 12v kettles for use on long car journeys. You have to keep the engine running of course while it boils but it took so long for about 3/4 of a cup it only got used once. The other thing I can't do with is toast made under a grill - it's just not the same as done in an electric toaster. Does anyone here run an electric toaster off the inverter and/or has anyone tried one of those gadgets that toasts bread on the gas hob?

The overplating around the stern is adding weight where typically there wasn't any ballast before, so even if the same total weight of ballast is removed as steel added, the boat will be lower at the stern than before. You may need to add a bit of ballast near the bow to lift the stern up.

Up to 98% for some I believe. But with taxes that high it just isn't worth the effort of pushing your business to earn you even more money, but it is worth spending quite a lot on lawyers and accountants to find ways around paying all that tax, neither of which is very good for the wider economy. Which is why those very high tax rates were abolished. But I am minded to agree that maybe the pendulum has swung too far the other way.
