  13. In my view one needs to have an Anode, Cathode and electrolyte making a corrosion cell before it can be called a power supply. An anode on it's own is just a lump of metal.

  29. Replaced all the pipework connecting 3 rads to my (new) Webasto ThermoTop C, which was plastic (speedfit), with 22mm copper. Worked at 2nd attempt at firing up, with no leaks. The Webasto itself was installed by Steve at Kings Lock and I have designed and installed 3 radiators and a blower and associated pipework (though I have not tried the blower yet). Early days I know, but dead chuffed!

  43. The Tolly boating family go back some way in the 1891 census a William Tolley born 1862 & his half brother Mark born 1873 from tipton toll end .William had a daughter who married into the Lenton family that I belive used to own charity docks long ago will check this is correct when I am next in contact with Roy Lenton. Solomon Tolly married into the Gardner boating family & in the 1940's his son a Thomas Tolley ran boats for Manny Smith from Brentford to Birmingham but the gentleman you mention may well be John Tolley as I was at Arther Tolley's funeral around 2005 & as far as I know John is still with us

  46. I actually think that most of the comments and advice on this thread, certainly the first tranche, are very helpful, realistic and honest. Only Phylis shows her normal colours...but if you are on the canals, you probably wont have to experience her. The waterways(yes, not just CRT, ) are still one of the few places you can pretty mu h escape much of present lifes impositions. You dont get daily junk mail, piles of fast food advertising flyers, doorstep salespeople, you dont even get much in the way of spam telephone calls if you are sensible. It's not rules, its terms and conditions you sign up to, boat owners who get into problems now have generally signed agreeing to T&C and then try to ignore it or beat it.(sometimes encouraged by the Norty Barging non-Travelling Alliance. It's a wonderful place, can be hard work in Winter if you are not ready for it or expect services on a Deliveroo style basis, but is fill of smashing, super people who will help you out and welcome you in if you come in with the right attitude and willingness to take part.

  47. There is some information on the Tolly's on the Facebook group "Life on the Cut in Bygone Days." It is however a closed group. It has pictures of Jack and his wife Leah Tolly, John Tolly and Rose and Fred Gibbs, related to the Tolly's. Posted 23 weeks ago April 13th 2019.
