  10. I've just talked to the office and booked you in 3x boats, as I said it's only on the visitor moorings, they asked if you can resend your email with your details and dates and they will confirm, as they have just upgraded their server and some emails have been deleted off the system.

  28. I didn’t sign it because it basically says that boating diesel will increase in tax by 30p per litre and we don’t want to pay. Had it briefly stated why this is unfair then I would, but it just sounds like rich hobby boaters wanting to pay less tax on their hobby. So I hope it doesn’t get enough signatures to trigger a debate, because it could turn public opinion against and then when it needs sensible discussion it will be more difficult to get a sensible result.

  29. I had no problems - the weedcutter had been busy! The cut between the Derwent and the canal can apparently be shallow. The CRT weedcutter had been sent because the PCAS one was broken, but I think it was being fixed while I was there.

  30. Winded a 57 footer at Judes Ferry last year. I'm doubtful about doing it in a 70 footer. I think you need to wait to hear from someone who's actually winded a 70 footer! Well worth joining GOBA for the use of all their moorings.

  31. Er give it a sharp tap with a mooring hammer and listen for the tinkle? ? Tricky one. Long term, no. Most of the metalwork in the stove exposed to the hottest parts of the fire are protected by refractory fire brick. The back boiler is protected by being full of circulating water. The only parts that aren't are the grate and they are thick cast iron. Even so, they do erode over time and can be seen as a consumable. Short term, one weekend, maybe yes, maybe no. How long might it take to fix the central heating leak? Could you take an extra duvet for the bed and spend the evening in a nice warm pub, before coming back wearing a booze overcoat? ? Jen

  48. seems very unfair to me. surely when you decide to have children it is up to the NHS to make sure your systems work, and then to deliver a bouncing baby to your door, and then it is up to the DHSS and the council to support you and the kids till they leave home (at which point they will make their own arrangements with the council), and up to the DoE to look after them 9 to 4 weekdays for 39 weeks of the year while you get some peace to dangle a hook in the cut, and up to the council again to find them summat to do during the remaining 13 weeks. oh, and if you allow your child to eat nothing but white bread, crisps and coca-cola then the NHS will look after him when he goes blind and deaf and he can't watch telly any more. not your problem. innit?
