  3. Hi All, My father, Graham has owned and run Norton Canes Boatbuilders since 1986. He is currently building his 100th boat for Norton Canes, NB. Honesty. Inspired by Sarah's Town Class Sticker Album I have set myself the challenge of finding a photograph of every boat that he has built. While I'm at it, I might as well make a gallery for the Malcolm Braine boats that he built too! I've made a start by creating an owners gallery on our website, which can be found here: http://www.nortoncanesboatbuilders.co.uk/register.html As you can see I'm quite a way off my target, so I need a bit of help… If anyone on here owns, or knows someone who owns a Norton Canes or a Malcolm Braine boat could you please send me some information about your boat? I am looking for the following information: Name (If re-named, both original name and new name) Build Date Build Number (Norton Canes will start with 10 ie. 1001 for number 1) Length Other Info (Engine, Fitter, Mooring, whatever you want to tell me) Photo (either current or old photo) Please sent any information that you have to: sarah (at) nortoncanesboatbuilders (dot) co (dot) uk Thanks! Sarah

  4. Alan de Enfield has explained that one more than adequately, and I do not feel any need to add to his comments. The fact that most other people are able to grasp the finer details, whilst you seem unable to recognize the differences, suggests that it is you who is confused and ignorant, rather than those who you continue to challenge. Furthermore, it does nothing to enhance your failing argument by drawing unwarranted attention to a minor spelling error.

  5. Post 45 - "CaRT is not a charity in the conventional sense, but a Trust," Post 65 - "However, it does not make it a Charity in the normaly [sic] accepted sense, even if it seeks to promote itself as if it were a conventional Charity." I have no idea why you think CART isn't a charity in the "normal" or "conventional" sense, but it IS a charity in the only sense that matters - that it is recognised as such by the Charity Commission. Not trying to pick a fight, but you are not the only person on here who seems to be ignorant of what a charity is, and I thought I would clarify matters for anybody who might have been confused by misleading statements on the subject.

  8. . And I thought I was the thick one on here it's ok knowing lots of long words but really, the lady and her home were being openly criticised on here so she joined the forum to try and answer peoples questions and give here reasons for not wanting dickheads moored up in her garden when she had done that reasonably well I thought, the school playground mentality kicked in and tried to pick on anything else they could for example her web site that she was quite proud of was not good enough ,so to spell it out she was trying to be nice she does,nt need visiting boats she does,nt want visiting boats and she won't be taking visiting boats just get over it ffs . Well perhaps you and dick could start a little forum of your own congratulating each other on your superior typing styles and how the world would manage to continue spinning without you

  10. Wrong. I have asked some direct questions and pointed out some major short comings in Junes postings. She has ignored all of them. Its flowery nonsense that distracts from the fact Floods Ferry was a much better place a few years ago.

  13. It is a registered charity. That means it is a charity. Charities come in several forms, but if they are registered by the Charity Commission, they are a charity. No ifs and buts about it. CART is a charity under the law of this realm, and that is all that counts.

  14. That was a bit premature! The rod that connects the two fuel pumps together had jammed in the closed position. Johnno has worked his magic and I'm on my way again!

  16. I put a mark on our boatpole which is max draft plus a couple of inches. If you think the cill may be too close to the top, you can dip pole and assess. Good for dipping to get/check a decent mooring depth too.

  19. Isn't it? We all delight in the helpful community spirit of the waterways, is it not awful when we encounter one who pollutes that by using a "fu<k you" attitude to take advantage of everyone else's goodwill? I really, really hope CaRT charge this boater £25 a day for their "Mooring". The only possible excuses for this are either mechanical breakdown or medical emergency in which case I would imagine other boaters would pitch in to help by moving the boat on behalf of the owner. If neither of these apply then my opinion is that the owner is a selfish shit and the waterway community would be better off without them and their like.

  20. This forum beggars belief sometimes. I imagine that if I moored my boat across the canal and blocked it completely there would be some on here who would say "Well cruise somewhere else then" rather than dirty their liberal credentials by agreeing that some conduct is not acceptable.

  21. Yes of course, in the end it's fine to moor at the water point, and let's never say anything if someone does it.

  22. I hoped that the introduction of the Gold Licence would herald a simplification of boat licencing; i.e. a single licence for all UK inland navigable waters. This would decrease the cost of issuing and enforcing licences and remove all arguments such as "I am based on the K&A and I am isolated from the rest of the canal system". A portion of each licence fee could be allotted to each of the waterways, either as as a percentage or according to reported passages. Alan
