  2. QMP owed them £180k. QMP no longer exists, and Mr Steadman now owns the maria (or perhaps briefly owned it and has sold it to a new company), as a secured creditor of the failed company. Mr Steadman does NOT personally owe the money, and the new company does not owe the money. Mr Steadman has a binding agreement that a NAA will not be "unreasonably" witheld. Refusing a new NAA until such time as a secured creditor relinquishes his secured position in favour of a particular unsecured creditor would count as unreasonable. Requiring personal guarantees for future payments where the same personell are involved would not be unreasonable.

  3. I like to use a midi fuse box at the battery like this one, varying numbers of bay sizes are available, MIDI BOX from there I "zone" by working out the load required for each zone and select the cable and fuse size based in that, I then take the cables to a close by convenient site and terminate in one of these, Blade fuse block . Again various bay size are available but installing one with a couple of extra fuses over what you need allows for easier and more economical addition in future. if working to NMEA 0400 standard I also have to mount a volt meter at each distribution point but that needn't concern you. This method is really useful as the distribution point at say the bathroom that may have heavy loads like a macerator, pressure pump and shower drain pump can be provided with heavy cable and the less hungry areas can have lighter cable which can save money. Use tinned cable, good quality well executed terminals, conduit where needed (bulkheads and proximity to low voltage AC, unless the AC is in conduit) and you will have the best chance of a fault free system for years to come. Oh, don't forget to label the fuses and document the install as much as possible

  9. I can see why long distance rail travel might be worth investing in - but I can't see why the government doesn't consider coaxing commuters out of their need to commute. Commuting is a 19th century solution to a 19th century problem and here we are in the 21st century still shiftinh millions of people from sururban homes into the centre of cities on a daily basis - what an absolute waste of time and energy (literally). Invest a small proportion of HS2 budget into improving the broadband infrastructure, and provide incentives with a little more and before you know it they would have enough capacity on existing tracks for the HS2 traffic and maybe even more. People will quickly adapt to not having to work in big office blocks and with the reduced stress we might even have a healthier workforce - we would definitely be world leaders in remote working. There's no point in saying anything though as governments are inherently incapable of thinking outside there own limited vision

  10. My experience with the BMC 1.5 is that it requires virtually no pre heating in the summer and at least a minute in the winter, or slightly less if it was run until hot the previous day. Without trying teach you to suck eggs, are you opening the throttle lever to almost fully open when cranking? if not that can cause catching but not firing. If all else fails, and you need to get it to an engineer, one of the best in the Midlands is Jonathon Hewitt at Union Canal Carriers Braunston, he does do call outs but Oxford may be a bit far for someone he doesn't know.

  11. I do hope that this time CRT have the commercial savvy not to grant an access agreement to a company that has no assets and whose director seeking to negotiate with them has a background in bankrupt companies owning CRT money. Hopefully personal guarantees from the ultimate benificiaries secured on real assets will smooth the way for all concerned. The only interests that have been put to the forefront so far it seems to me are those of the directors and shareholders of QMP.

  14. Ok so it is the charging voltage temperature compensation. The default value is -30mV per degree Centigrade away from 25 degrees C for a 12v battery. Looking at the remote meter setup, it is asking for the value PER CELL. There are 6 cells in a 12v battery so the default value is -5mV/oC. So set it to -5.

  19. From the letter: "I’m sure many of you will understand that in this ‘limbo’ period, there are no payments whatsoever being made to Canal & Rivers Trust so I hope that Canal & Rivers Trust do embark on the task of rectifying this matter promptly so that payments for access can start as soon as possible, obviously to the financial benefit of the Canal & Rivers Trust." The glaring omission being how the new company will have the money to pay CRT, when PLM didn't. MtB

  20. I don't think it's positive at all. It's no business of mine if you're loose with your identity. Get yourself fitted with an ASBO ankle strap. I don't accept any unnecessary intrusion and what you're suggesting is lazy admin for the admins benefit. I don't see having a licenced boat gives that kind of permission. I think you have to understand, having a boat gives a degree of free movement and also the ability to remove oneself from the 'grime'. I would very much draw the line at tagging.
