  3. Ah ok, the pump IS air locking then. The change in note occurs when it stops pumping water and the impeller fills with air. Hard to know what to suggest without a pipework diagram of your installation. Where in the system is the pump? I suspect it is in the flow pipe from the back boiler. It ought to be in the return from the rads to the boiler, low doen near the floor. MtB

  5. A. Yes if the socket is switched on. B. There is always a fire hazard should a component fail and overheat. I would recommend always to switch off or unplug any phone charger when not in use.

Thank you It really does look like it will be an easy raise once the ea drop the river we will have a fair amount of people with pumps and shovels as id imagine its full of silt lol My Dad said today if it floats again then i will start again so now its just a waiting game. we even had a few people turn up to turn a narrow boat around so the bow was facing the current http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0Pn2HWnA50. My father stands out alot as he is the one in the high viz and dreadlocks lol

  8. But George, this is the very foundation of both tragedy and comedy. The protagonist proceeds towards disaster despite the advice of everyone And what could be funnier than a good toilet disaster Leave him be, there's some fun to be had in this. It is an entire episode of Last of the Summer Wine for a start Richard

  9. You know, the only difference between Bizzard's wheezes and Doodlebug's projects is that whilst both are crazy, Bizzard isn't serious. Doodle, really, this is a doomed scheme. There are so many complications, like the warning system, that it is bound to go wrong at some point. Then you are in all sorts of trouble. Deep doo-doo, as the Americans say. Just buy four cassettes, and keep them on the roof.

  11. With the rain forecast for Monday morning is it not worth considering putting a mud weight (a very hefty one) out towards the centre of the river firmly attached to the end of the boat that is upstream in the hope (rather than expectation) that any rain will swell the River Wey again (it is so quick to go up and down) and that the boat may have enough water under it to swing out and ride on the mud weight in a reasonable depth of water so that when the water levels decrease you are in the main stream of the river. It's just a thought; I am not an engineer but just someone with a reasonably (I hope) practical approach to things and knowing how challenging it will be to get any heavy lifting/pulling equipment to where you require it. I think I saw on here an image of a large B&Q plastic garden bucket filled with concrete with a substantial chain secured in the middle of it.
