  2. I used to hate this weather when biking, way too hot when properly kitted up. And it brings out even more dimwitted drivers who don't look out for anything.

  3. What about the yellow and green budgies as well as the turquoise ones? And lay off the weather! It's been long enough coming, we can't be fed up with it already... You'll miss it when it's gone.

  4. Why? It's not that difficult to install a shunt and then it's accurate. Your Outback will be giving quite a lot of information. I think you need education rather than a gadget (except perhaps Robbie from Lost in Space). Do you have no metering at all with this lot which is quite a sophisticated set up? Where are you based? Whereas a power audit would be a useful exercise my dear petite chatte, it's not going to be that useful in this case. It's going to be relatively easy to find out how much is being used (and how much is going in) Question to the OP; Is your solar keeping up? How many amp hours per day do you get? (the Outback will tell you) If the answer to the first is yes, then the second is your usage (the Outback will stop once the batteries are full)

  5. I moored at Sheffield for two winters. Before CV Marine took over it was quite empty -the brokerage boats fill it up and make it much more interesting. It's a strange place- spitting distance from the city centre but visually and mentally cut off by the ring roads.Nice little moorings and community. Hell. of a journey to get out though esp as you have to book passage through the locks. Most of a days journey gets you to Rotherham! But the the Don there is gorgeous. Diesel comes in jerrycans or Thorne has to be the first stop . The trip boat get their red diesel delivered in big drums which could potentially be shared between a group of boats.

  6. It may be possible, if the club has a website, to find out competion dates from that. That is how I used to save myself from meltdown walking along the towpath into Brewood on a Sunday - you think they're a nuisance to boaters, try using the towpath. There is no harm being polite and friendly to them but remember the canal is a navigation, it is not there for their benefit. Their use of it is incidental to its main purpose. They are welcome to enjoy it provide they do not hinder navigation. So my advice would be don't try to please/placate them, just boat as you normally would. Anyone fishing on locks or lock landings gets treated as if they are not there. They should know the rules.
