  3. This tale reinforces my opinion that, when running in convoy, a decent gap should be left between boats. The wake of a deep draughted boat will pull any boat going the other way across behind him. This puts him in the path of the next boat in convoy and room should be left for him to regain his own side in comfort. Secondly I must admit to being slightly peeved that, having been courteous and allowed another boat through a bridgehole, I find myself waiting while a complete convoy comes sailing by. On a windy day I can be more than peeved as I struggle to maintain station when really only a slowing down should have been necessary. George ex nb Alton retired

  4. When you buy a house your solicitor checks that the house has permission to be there so you are safe in the knowledge that you won't be evicted just for trying to live there. If you buy a holiday home you know that you can't live there 12 months of the year. Why do people think that they can buy a boat and live where they like on it?

  5. In case anyone was wondering the engine needed a minor service so we combined this with a changeover at Anderton marina. No problems. Not use to posting messages, so I think1 I have just accidentally rewarded myself a greenie Sorry, won't do it again!

This weendvwe have booked passage through London and hope to get to Enfield. We had never hired or driven a boat before and it has been a huge exciting learning curve. 11. If we take this to its logical conclusion we would be saying that for those people with similar issues, who live in bricks and mortar, dont need pay their Council Tax / electricity / etc and they dont need to tax their car which they use to take the children to school. Who are we to say that they may not live their lives in such a manner ? Just because someone "WANTS" to liveaboard doesnt mean that they should ignore the rules obeyed by the rest - if they did have bricks and mortar they would probably get a great deal more financial assistance to help them. I "WANT" lots of things that would make my life more pleasurable but if I cannot afford them I dont have them. There is a big difference between want & need.

  12. But if you kept to the rules......why would this worry you? Is 10km not a reasonable distance every 14 days...then another 10km 14 days later (In the same direction - not back again)
