Laundry Service to the Rescue!

Hello everybody!

I run a laundry & ironing business in Blisworth, Northamptonshire and have recently acquired a customer who lives on a canal boat. She has a family & dog and saw one of my adverts in the village. She told me about the problems with using a laundrette and was relieved to find my service local to where she moors up which she uses on a weekly basis.

I had a "light bulb" moment and guess that there must be other boat owners/users who struggle with their laundry, especially as lots of laundrettes are closing and some marinas do not have laundry facilities.

Help is here!

So, when you think of doing your laundry or even look at your laundry basket and sigh, not wanting to complete this task... think of me and enquire how my services can help you.

Private message me for more information regarding prices or to book a service through my webpage:

Thanking you in advance!

Now the stretch of the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal, from Aston Junction to Salford Junction, is included, with more views of Salford Junction:

j.mp/birmingham-canals

It is planned to add historic information, and especially old photos. "Old" means just "different from what it looks now", not decades old.

If you can help with photos, please let me know!

If they are paper prints, slides, or negatives, they will be professionally scanned, and you'll get them back, of course!

This virtual tour will be extended from Salford Junction up the GUC "Birmingham & Warwick Juction Canal" and the Digbeth Branch to Aston Junction again.

You may have noticed a virtual tour of the planned new route of the Lapal Canal, created for the Lapal Canal Trust:

j.mp/lapal-pano

Virtual Tour of the canals in central Birmingham

Some may have seen the virtual tour of historic narrow boat Swallow at the Black Country Living Museum.

Back in Birmingham for the 2015 BCN 24 Hours Marathon Challenge I did the photography for another virtual tour. The idea was to cover all 13 Farmers Bridge locks, but, with panoramas of Gas Street Basin and Old Turn Junction added, and panoramas shot last year, of Sherborne Wharf and Ladywood Junction, the virtual tour now covers a wider area of the canals in Central Birmingham:

There are short links to the main areas:

Farmers Bridge locks from the top downwards: j.mp/farmers-bridge-locks

Farmers Bridge locks from the bottom lock upwards: j.mp/farmers-bridge-locks-up

Gas Street Basin: j.mp/gas-street-basin

Old Turn Junction: j.mp/old-turn-junction

Ladywood Junction: j.mp/ladywood-junction

Sherborne Wharf: j.mp/sherborne-wharf

Of course all the panoramas are visually linked to each other.

The idea for creating this virtual tour was to create a very detailed source of information. I'm adding my own photos from the 1980s and the historic information I can find, it would be wonderful if you could contribute with old personal photos and historic information!

The difference between the 1889 view and today can be significant - see lock 7.

At the moment, the name is still "Farmers Bridge Locks Virtual Tour", any idea for a better name would be most welcome!

Canal Pages - Waterways Business Directory

Just thought I should introduce myself, my name is Andrew Knight from Marine Power Solutions. We have been supplying inboard marine diesels for about 8 years and have sold about 750 in this time. In the new year we are bringing out a new range of dedicated inland waterways engines, these will be keel cooled with water cooled exhaust manifolds, twin alternators, deluxe control panel all as standard.

If anyone would like further information, please contact me here or email andrew.knight@marine-power.net.

You can visit our website for more information, the pictures of the keel cooled engines are not correct. When we have the new model, these will be updated. The engines will be painted in British Racing green and finished to our high standards.

Gearbox options include mechanical or hydraulic versions, our standard fitting is with PRM but any others are available.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this, I thought it would be useful to this forum to see that there is an alternative supplier who sells at the right price.

the best time to use the RV in San Diego is November 2013 to April ( for the best not to hot USA weather)

So a non consecutive use time is also an option.

The RV will go up to Alaska for summer, so Anchorage 2014 is also an RV use option.
