  1. Hi Gibbo, Ok sorry for the delay in replying but suffered a bereavement last week. I have tested the alternators and forgive my basic explanation of things! Alternator 1 - this is the alternator connected to the isolator switch which in turn runs through the Deep cycle batts. Engine running = 14.2 Engine stop = 12.70 Alternator 2 - this is connected to the engine somewhere at the bottom although couldnt trace it being 6'4!! ssumption this charges the Starter battery. Engine running = 14.5. Engine stop = 13.25 Does this seem normal? Thanks
  2. Ok, thanks Gibbo and nb, When I get home tonight will check the alternators and report back in the morning as with the batteries, our location also seems to be fairly 3G dead so can log into internet at a rate of about 1kbps!!
  3. Thanks for your advice, funnily enough I stumbled upon the smartguage website whilst lookign just now and am in the process of ordering. I shall get this installed and go from there I think. Regards to the gene, I'm moored in a very quiet location and the gene I already have is probably noisier than the engine! I thinki the charger between the batts and alts was something one of the stalls recommended to me but i couldnt see why myself! Thanks again
  4. Hi all, Hope you are all enjoying the lovely summers day!! Just a couple of questions really, have been reading through pages of posts but none the wiser! I have found that the batteries on my liveaboard have had it. We charge through the generator(2kva) for say 3 hours via the power master 3000 until all 4 bars are lit, have only the TV on and fridge and blank goes the TV after around 10 minutes. Bearing in mind we have 4 x 110Ah batteries around 2 years old but have been fully discharged quite a few times so the assumption is they are shot! The other side if for instanc ewe run out of petrol for the gene, we will run the engine at fast revs but this doesnt seem to charge the batteries at all - even as much as the TV goes whilst the engine is running. I've been to Crick over the weekend and speaking with all two stands that supply power equipment, they both suggested a battery monitor and charger between the batts and alts (have two x 70a). Now having looked around, I have found several different companies that do such a thing. My questions are: Do I require a charger between the batts and alts and if so what would be best? If I were to purchase the Honda eu20i gene, would I still need the power master as this has an inbuilt inverter? If I were to upgrade to 4 x 125Ah batts - would I need bigger alts? What would be the best monitor to use - smart guage or amp hour guage? Please excuse my cluelessness but on the verge of spending a lot of money I want to get it right! Thanks in advance nafey
  5. Hi there, I'm new to this forum so hello to everyone who reads this. I'm also fairly new to living on a boat and have a question about the toilet... It is a SaniMarin 35 or 43 I think but I have no literature with it. All I wanted to know is whether I can change any settings on the refill after flushing as the bowl seems to almost fill right back up to the top after flushing. This is an incredible waste of water plus it fills the external tank up rather fast! Having looked at the websites on this toilet etc, it appears I have the older type that doesn't come with the electric keypad that they seem to now have so I'm a little stuck with what to do. I cant find anything on the above from the manuals online either so not sure if this means that you cant but thought I'd ask on here in case you can! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Nafey
