Presumably the manufacturers test of success is impact on sales, which may not directly follow from interest or views of an ad. I remember a few decades ago there was a campaign for a brand of beer that was widely satirised as "Nice ad, shame about the beer". I doubt that did much for sales.

Not customer facing business, but food service for employees within company premises where I worked started to switch from cash in the early 2000s. Initially this was through the mechanism of loading money onto the card people had to provide access through site security doors and barriers. In the larger places there were no nearby alternatives to buy food. This was I think a purely practical decision as they wanted to avoid the nuisance and expense of paying people to do cash handling and banking, and were in a position to impose a solution on employees.

Marine mortgages were certainly available for narrow boats some years ago. I don't know whether they are still available. A forum search may reveal examples.
