Could you please send me your phone number I have a friend there in England that is very interested in your Jig borer. He is not a member of the forum.

    Thank you

    David Sohlstrom

  2. My guess was that you needed to walk to the top end of the lock and cross there. Don't think my old short legs will make the giant step across the one open bottom gate to the other. The boat hook idea looks good if I too can remember to take the hook with me. I will definitely be working on my game plan and taking the recommendations on where to moor the night before the dreaded 21 Thanks again Dave
  3. I would like to thank every one for the information you provided. Looks like I will rework my plan so I moor at the bottom of the Wolverhampton and make the clime to the top in one day. One question how do you go about opening both bottom gates with just one person working the lock. My wife is not strong enough to help so I will be working the locks. Thanks Dave
  4. My wife and I will be crusing the canals in OCT. Canal route planner is routing me from stone to the Black Country Museum via Aldersley junction and up the Wolverhampton locks. Using Google Earth to look at the route the canals look to have a lot of weed and narrows. Two questions, One planer has me mooring for the night between locks 10 and 9 of the Wolverhampton locks. Is this a good place to moor for the night. Looking at google earth there looks to be enough room for a 38 foot narrow boat to moor. 2nd will the weeds be a problem getting to Black Country Museum. Is there any thing else I need to know about this route. Dave
  5. My wife and I are crusing for a month starting the last week of sept. the best air fair I found was with Icelandic Air Seattle to Manchester. we then take the train to Stone and pick up our boat there. Dave
  6. Lewis Sounds like the way to do it. I just need to make sure that my stopping does not prevent me from making it back to Stone on time to catch my plane home. Dave
  7. Maybe we should us the interglactic standard light year then when we are traveling down the canal at 6e-13 LY then we are not breaking the canal speed limit cause we are only traveling at 3.5271752239101643 MPH Dave
  8. How bout tick over Dave
  9. Phylis Your boat does 5 MPH at idel does it not Dave
  10. Carlt, Jake Crew, Soldthehouse You guys have me ROTFL. The rest thank you for the information. Dave
  11. Phil I have never run a narrowboat but I have been operating boats and vessels sence I was about 12 now nearly 62. Have been through some locks but that was on a 133 foot US Coast Guard bouy tender. My wife on the other hand has only been on a few of the vessels that I have run so has zero boat handling experence. I am going to build a scale model of a narrowboat that is RC controled and I can build a canal with one lock in it on the property we live on. I hope to have her so she knows which way to move the tiller to make the boat do what she would like it to do. This is going to be a once it a life time for us so I am trying to plan so we don't kill our selves trying to get from A to B to C to D and back to A. Dave
  12. Graham I have run several plans using the route planner. Have four vol. of Pearson guides. Laurie We have 28 days to cruse starting at Stone. We will visit friends at Marston Junction. Would like to go to Village at War at Stoke Bruerne and then to Black Country Museum. All Thanks so far for the information. Dave
  13. Hello all My wife and I will be crusing for a month in Sept, Oct 2010. For planning what would you say is the average speed between locks on pounds that are fairly long. Also once we get the task of locking through worked out, what would you say is the average time for a two pewrson crew. Dave
