  1. That's a shame.. but needs must and you'll be back on the water again in no time if you both still feel the pull of this life. Covid opened my options too. I'm an IT engineer at the Met Office and after living in Devon for a few years (following my divorce) to get my feet under the table, I realised that I could do my job from home, and hence anywhere so lifelong dream unlocked! - Marina life so far (and trips in between) but would rather be on the move.
  2. So not you then an not your boat! I have seen that MrsM on the font used on that boat somewhere before though... Could have been Crick (or maybe here, they could have just shifted berths and I have a terrible memory!! lol) What made you give up the boat life? If it's personal, tell me to mind my own business! Off to Tescos... need milk! Steve.
  3. A boat pulled up beside me earlier called MrsM - pink lettering on black/grey.. Remembered your name from here. Not been on here as much now that I've actually got a boat! Time flies. Been a liveaboard now for about 18 months. Purchased SNUG in Whilton in 2024, wintered at Crick and then did the two week cruise down the length of the Nene to the Middle Levels where I've been ever since. Probably going to move again in the spring. I'd rather be a CC but commitments.
  4. Just checking. Have you just become my neighbour?
  5. I think I figured my noise out. A few weeks ago the noise could only be heard in the bow when I was at the back of the boat. The noise stopped when I went to investigate (adding to the frustration). Since my water tank has been slowly being used up, the bow is higher and I'm hearing the noise even if I'm sitting in the front.water is lapping around the lower bow straking and reverberating through my gas locker and amplified by my nearly empty water tank. Only tiny ripples but making a big noise as it's splashing against straking. Sometimes what sounds like a drip... Isn't a drip! ... Doesn't explain why I heard it mainly when it rained though... Probably coincidence.
  6. Thanks. I know the cover you mean but it's in my covered cratch and it's as dry as a bone. The plot thickens.
  7. I'm getting the same thing. A dripping noise coming from the water tank. First heard it during a night of snowfall. It was dead calm outside so no waves on the side of the hull. 3am I was up going crazy trying to figure out the source of the noise that appeared to be coming from everywhere... It only happens when it rains or if snow is melting and it's definitely coming from the integral water tank in the bow. It's been nearly three weeks since I've filled my tank so wondering if it's "self filling"! - considering keeping it topped up so when it rains next I'll listen if there is less of an echo to the drip. Sort of concerning, but the main thing is, I'm not sinking. I've only had the boat just over a month ago still getting used to it's personality!
  8. I wouldn't be without my cratch cover. Somewhere to keep logs, hoses, ash bucket (so the ashes don't blow away) rubbish bags before taking to bin, clothes drying in the rain without condensation build-up on the boat etc etc. it's my main entrance so a good place to leave muddy boots and wet raincoats too. I agree with the OP in that it does hinder view a little, but mine has windows on the front and I roll my sides up whenever I can.... and the pros weigh up far against the cons.
  9. Can you get go-faster stripes too? 😆
  10. Further to my conversation posted above. I thought I'd ascertain if the original advertiser was indeed a bot.(with a little help from Bill Bailey and Monty Python).... Yep it was.
  11. About ten mins ago... thought I'd follow up on an ad for a 2021 57ft Narrowboat with plastic still on the upholstery.... for £6700 (That magic number again). Attached is the conversation. I'd already called a number given to me on the ad and I was told the boat was in Wick - not that far from John-O-Groats!
  12. Thanks for your response. I'm sorted for a berth now. I did look at Hartford, but the price was inhibitive.
  13. You got your licence fee's worth that year! I'm OCD when it comes to things like that. I'm a photographer in my spare time and visual framing is everything.
  14. I'll probably be using pre printed decals.... call me a heathen! - and the name I have in mind is pretty short.... but thanks!
  15. Not to mention the electricity company Powergen in Italy. Powergenitalia.com
