Back to boating with a Shetland 535 project
W+T replied to W+T's topic in Boat Building & Maintenance
There is no way in thsi world i would stick a tow bar on the 81 Vette. I though for a moment you psotted the tow car as its just in a picture, that being a Mazda Bongo of 30 years old. That is not great on fuel, maybe high 20`s but i run it on vg oil at 80p a litre. And well to run a Vette doing around 16mpg as low as 10mpg is not heer or there in cost, its about the fun and smiles you get. I use it a lot, shopping trips, this weekend if nice ill be off fishing in it. Above asll the overall cost of both is half the cost of an average family car on tick and insurance Ill be doing as little as needed for now to the boat. near as what you would do. all easy work, lot less than my last projects i think you will agree haha. -
Back to boating with a Shetland 535 project
W+T replied to W+T's topic in Boat Building & Maintenance
I used to have problems.when flying but very little and it didnt really bother me. Dad had it bad and when he past 40 years old, he was fine and it went away. My brother was real bad but when a kid he had to get the school bus and that was a 15 mile.trip through Cumbria. After a month or so he got used to it. Reason i think maybe face it head on. I am fine with Camels. Not.many to catch around Manchester so dont bother really -

Been a while hey folks. Now not a clue on what boat count this is as i have had so many and i cant count past 10 haha. And for last.couple.of years i have. Been enjoying the rewards of my last boat sale and got my dream car as below. And as being physically knackered i have syarywd fishing big time again. Just built a tackle.shed. I know this is not a.canal boat but i see a few on here do like the Shetland boats and this being a 535 with a shortend cuddy to make good deck soace. And it has great amounts for a.18 foot boat. Reason i got it due to me wanting to get o er my sea sick sickness. Used to get gippy.on the camal many moons ago lol.. trie all.way since to get to sea but nothing works for me. Ginger, tablets of all.kinds so ill do it the hard way. And the new toy. All good and solid but for a.few.bad reparis that have cracked ill sort them.easy enough in the top deck.

Sounds like i am i to late to the party ?

Thanks all for the replies. I have sent him an email and asked him if he has actually done the research needed to do this. I didnt think kit was all that easy. I did advise him about making it as simple as possible, as in no engine or LPG. And use the marinas services. He has good plans for it and sounds it will be a top notch place to stay, no cheapo digs type. Oh yes it is one of them big red life boat types that get dropped over the side. I would be surprised myself to find a good marina to accept them.

Hi all. I am working on boat for a chap that is converting a lifeboat to an Air BnB. What are the regulations for this to be allowed, beside a BSC to be got for it and insurance. He plans on it going on a marina.

Transom mounted gas bottle cages
W+T replied to Jen-in-Wellies's topic in Boat Building & Maintenance
Hi all. I have messaged you @Jen-in-Wellies I stopped making them for a while due to cost rises in galvanising. then life got int he way and leaving the bost scene to play with my new car project. Although i am soon to be making them again. this time consentrating making them from stainless steel. Wayne -
How the hell are you, hey i havnt forgot i ow you a length of copper pipe I think i have just got myself a mooring at Menai Bridge need to sort my sea legs out asap haha
-
You still dont know me hahaha. I already have plans to faffing. Only add moor leisure batteries and new cooker, Solar Fish finder. and a few alterations T is wanting on decor. just some of the cushion covers. I have a mooring on Blackleach for winter only as we can atleast us it over winter and get to the sea buy Glasson Dock a few good days to get our sea legs. I do want it home a few weeks before sea launch for a few weeks to fit a rear platform for boarding at the mooring down Wales and the Sonar. Lanky is nice but rubbish at same time. to shallow and full of moaners.and folk that wont do anything but moan. I have offered to help build a weed dredger and asked for folk to help some folk willing to but most are ignorant. i dont even use the bloody canal but love it. if folk are not botered then leave them to it. Thats the short of it. So will be winter inland and summer at sea Defo, keep and enjoy it. mite be me getting lazy or just seen a dam good bargain, bit of both maybe. Other is for sale, if it dont ill do more work to make it useable to help sell it easier. not decided on if to fit the rebuilt engines i have done or keep the ones from this boat. And i next few years we are after a liveaboard so who ever buys this house i hope they like boats as there digging up a lot Oh yes a diesel cab heater will be fitted. And a fridge, all usual stuff i guess to get it as you want. Need to keep the Cider cold

For those of you following, betetr let you know its no longer going to be done this one. Reason i got an offer i couldnt say no to due to crazy price. being not much more tan a new canopy for this boat. and this canopy is only 10 month old. Same boat but a MK1 and all ready to go. same engines but AQ115 not the AQ130, but i will keep them and may fit them at a later date as they are rebuit. along with the drives as the new boat has the smaller AQ drives. so all off boating again soon, will be collecting this in four weeks, and cant bloody wait

W+T replied to W+T's topic in General Boating
I wouldnt fancy that as a liveaboard Rach. for that money aswell i could find more suitable boats for a livaboard. -

W+T replied to W+T's topic in General Boating
its what is wanted though, no point going second best. if we dont find a 40+ Aquafibre or similar broads cruiser then it will be another type of boat.
