  1. I have a E series Kabola installed in my 57ft trad. It heats rads and hot water just fine. A 45 Degree bend in the chimney is the most you can get away with and then you will need to compensate with extra chimney height. You will need meths to light the boiler initially and then it is easily controlled by increasing/decreasing the fuel regulator.Maintenance is easily carried out and apart from the need to plumb in a small pump to circulate the hot water throughout the system it is pretty foolproof- or so I've found. As previously posted, you do have to re light the boiler with meths everytime you have turned it off and this can take a few minuites. So if you wouldn't want to be involved with this start up procedure perhaps this might not be the best system for you.
  2. Thanks for all posts. I'm hoping the flywheel rim details will finally reveal and confirm the serial plate number to be the same John
  3. Thanks again for all advice. I will carry out a thorough search of the entire flywheel rim when next on my boat, including the possibility of a CS marking. Regards John
  4. Thanks for the advice. I have checked the MPS website .I noticed that it referred to JP2 rather than JP2M engines. I'm not sure if Lister would have classified them separately or just included them in the same listing? As I had ring gear fitted to the flywheel some time ago by Tony Redshaw I can rember him searching for any sign of the engine serial number before he machined the recess for the ring gear.We couldnt find anything though. I am reassured that as your 1936 engine presumably also has the narrow 26" diameter flywheel my engine will also be an earlier one as indicated by the listing. Regards John
  5. Hi There I have a Lister JP2M marine engine installed in my narrowboat. I understand that these engines were manufactured between 1932 and 1952.I would very much like to find out which year my engine was manufactured. The engine number stated on a brass plaque is 1882JP2M and the engine flywheel is the larger 26" diameter type. I am wondering if there is a registry of these engines somewhere that might help me to find out?
