  1. The metering device that is adjusted by the control knob was stuck as I re-discovered on 5th Jan when I tried to light the stove. There seems to be a slight build up of corrosion (or something like that) but exercising the metering device resolved it and at some time, I shall polish out the affected area. Meanwhile, the stove has behaved faultlessly during the severe cold weather.
  2. I fixed the stove today :). To be honest I cannot put my finger on the problem. I stripped down the regulator followed the video from reflex but didn’t find any particular issues. Had it running for about 2 hours without any issues.
  3. I’ve had a reply from Lockgate together with a video so I shall be studying that and all relevant replies in this thread. I shall be doing a full strip down and check. RussT, I agree with your comment - but the silver lever that is held down initially, to allow diesel through, overrides that thermocouple for starting. Thank you to all those of you who took the opportunity to advise me on resolving my diesel feed issues, fingers crossed I will have a serviceable stove some time Saturday.
  4. Thanks for the info. It is the override lever that I’ve been holding down - as per every time I’ve lit the stove over the last 20 years. No diesel issues forth which it what this thread is all about, I need to find the blockage or whatever it is that is causing the diesel not to flow through to the burner dish. ‘Tis most frustrating especially with the temperature dropping!
  5. Gents, the Lockgate conversion Morso Squirrel doesn’t have any such devices, but than Russ, my Squirrel has some kind of thermal sensor on the end of an extraordinarily long copper wire. There is no mention of it’s purpose or position in the instructions I have but I don’t consider it a factor in the problem.
  6. Gents, the Lockgate conversion Morso Squirrel doesn’t have any such devices, but thank you.
  7. Deffo not got one of those
  8. Thanks for that, I hadn’t realised it. I will give it a go.
  9. The oval plate covering the supply and control system has a silver lever at the front which is held down for the initial supply of diesel into the burner chamber and, once the initial ‘dribble’ is observed the lever is released to the ‘normal’ mid position. Other than that, the only other control is the setting knob. The top plate can be removed without affecting either of these controls and there is no other protrusion or pin. Sorry, I don’t have a supporting photo of my control unit.
  10. Having removed the top cover, I exercised both floats although both were ‘floating’. In so doing I was able to ascertain that the demand pump was functioning. It rather looks as though I need to delve deeper. By ‘manual tab’ I assume you mean the silver lever that needs to be depressed to deliver the initial flow and remains depress during operation of the stove - in which case yes I have. I also had the stove functioning on meths and some diesel in the base of the burner chamber in case a bit of heat might resolve the problem (my optimism unfounded unfortunately). what I’ve not received, thus far, is any response from lockgate themselves, which I find disappointing.
  11. Thanks Mike. I’ll give that a go.
  12. Thanks guys. ‘Cut hound’ I cannot remove the cleaning rod due to the positioning of the stove so I will see if I can clear the feed hole from the burner chamber end (the cleaning rod is set back after use). gg221 thanks I’ll investigate the use of a human hair if the first option doesn’t work.
  13. After many years of reliable service I recently attempted to ‘fire-up’ my diesel Squirrel. I couldn’t get any fuel to enter the burn chamber, has anyone any experience of this problem? To help with suggestions: 1. Yes I have a full tank of fuel 2. Yes the demand pump is functioning 3. Yes there is fuel in the chambers of the control unit 4. Yes, I’ve checked the filter - clean 5. Yes I’ve used the ‘pokey thing’ to unsure the delivery tube is clear 6. There is no evidence of diesel bug. I’ve been in touch with Reflex but I am still awaiting a response. many thanks
  14. Tony, I have yet to discover if my Python drive is ‘modern’, it has been in my boat for 20 years! Nevertheless, thank you for the instructions, I don’t believe my file on equipment fitted to my boat has the Python drive information.
