  1. Hesford Marine at Lymm 01925 754639; Nigel Hamilton also runs Thorn marine at Stockton Heath. Very helpful.
  2. Talking about the hull, my boat is out of the water at the moment and has just been grit blasted. My experience indicates that 2 pack on steel which has not been grit blasted will fail; some paint will stick most will not; even where it sticks there is a danger that water will creep under the epoxy.
  3. If travelling from the south you can only go as far as the water point at the Old No 3 Moorings are similar to CRT waters with 2 day limits at Lymm and near the water point. If coming from the North you can travel as far as Manchester or Bollington. The breach will not be fixed this year; in my opinion!
  4. CRT are now saying that the lift will remain closed for the whole of 2026! They ought to be ashamed of themselves
  5. I moor just round the corner in Anderton marina and feel very let down by CRT. When the lift was renovated many boaters ,including myself, donated a fair amount of money to supplement the major spend. The operator which was BW at the time, had the funds for a major overall after 10 years. As with most of the network, this maintenance was not done and we are now seeing the effect. The river Weaver is a lovely river to cruise and it would be a terrible shame if the lift was to be a non working museum. I understand that the lift is still being used by CRT work boats and if this is so there must be a way of bringing it back into service. CRT seem to be more interested in building a new visitor centre and do not seem to appreciate that over time visitor numbers will tail off if the lift is not working. Perhaps the new CEO will make this his first major target? He only needs to look at the weed growth this year to see what happens when there is no boat traffic!
  6. Amen to that, he is always in our thoughts.
  7. Nice to see the video with George and Alouette, hope it won't be too long before we see him repeating the exercise.
  8. Just to answer one question,if you have rigid pipes from the water pump convert them to the flexible steel variety, makes a big difference!
  9. Some people do not understand the English sense of humour! What a great shame!
  10. I thought we were talking about water tanks not racism!!
  11. Because I am a Webasto user I read through all the comments and agree that you have had some helpful suggestions. However,I think you will save a great deal of time (not money!) by asking a Webasto expert to test your unit and system. It does not appear to be a standard set-up which is essential for these heaters to work consistently well. If you are located anywhere near the North West I can recommend an engineer who has sorted my system, but there are very few of these people about.
  12. Dave and Chris moor at Henhull on the Shropshire Union and we became friends when we also moored at this site. Even though we have moved to Anderton ,we have kept in touch and my wife and I are proud to have known Dave. Some of you may not know that Dave & Chris were editors of the Shropshire Union Canal Society magazine "Cuttings" for many years and transformed the mag. until Dave was forced by ill health to hand over to Rod & Carol Hamilton-King; who have carried on in an excellent similar style. DOR will be sadly missed.
