Here is a picture of the regulator. I can also post a picture of the dyastart itself if you'd like and/or the wiring diagram I have. The solenoid/relay has two small terminals and two big terminals, so I think I can work that out.

Half dynamo, half starter motor. Starts the engine via a belt, rather than a toothed gear you'd find on a proper starter motor.

No problem. I've been working on this engine since May anyway.

Hi snibble, do you think it would be possible to let me have a copy of the information about replacing the regulator box as well please? I'm replacing my Bukh DV10me single cylinder diesel at the moment and I've got right up to connecting the dynastart. I've been supplied with a dynamo regulator and a fairly hefty relay, but I can't quite work out how the two should be connected to the rest of it. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Ben Tullis
