  1. Bletchley Park and The National Museum of Computing are well worth visiting. Moor in Fenny Stratford (if you can, these days) and it is a 30 minute walk (or a very short train journey) through the mean streets of Bletchley.

  3. And the lure of "plenty more work in the future"!
  4. I couldn't see how she could possibly have inferred the volume she mentioned from the previous post - so my Cobblers Detector was turned on (with a low gain setting)!
  5. Out of interest, where did this figure come from?
  6. In the words of David Kirkaldy: "Facts not Opinions". PS The Kirklady Testing Works in Southwark is really worth visiting!
  7. To be pedantic (and where would life on a Bank Holiday be without pedantry?), the volumetric expansion of the tank is very small, given that the coefficient of linear expansion of steel is about 0.000012 per degC and the volumetric expansion is about 3 times this.
  8. Not an error at all! White oils (gasoline, kerosene,& Diesel have coefficients of expansion between 0.00084 and 0.001. In comparison, water is about 0.0002.
  9. The coefficient of volumetric expansion for Diesel is about 0.001 per degC, so a 10 degC rise in temperature for 200 litres would give you 2 litres of expansion. Edited to remove exponents.

  11. Try and find a picture of Wessex to see what large portholes actually look like.
  12. If it is one of the induction hobs designed to run from a 13 Amp plug, I can understand your frustration. However, ones designed to operate from a 32 Amp supply are wonderful - easily the best hobs we have ever used (very responsive and controllable). Even my wife, who for years has said she would never use anything other than a gas hob is a now total convert!
  13. It isn't clear from the photo but you might have tripped the OPSO. Unscrew the clear platic cover and try to pull up the plunger underneath it to reset the OPSO. To prevent it tripping in the future, open the cylinder valve very slowly . Edited to add pull up or push down? Mine had to be but this one might need to be pushed down, as suggested above!
