Although for years we moored more or less round the corner from Mike (we at Iver, he at Uxbridge) and often passed Felis Catus I never met him. We occasionally crossed swords online but I had nothing but admiration for his profound knowledge of the canals as well as his untiring efforts to promote and protect them. Mary and I can only add our own condolences to the many already sent to Wendy. Trevor

I've just published an account of the ten years we spent living and cruising on our narrow boat Lady Elgar. The book describes the trials and tribulations - as well as the pleasures - of fitting out and living aboard a cruising narrow boat. It's based upon my diaries and logs and also, in part, on my Internet blog. I hope it provides a snapshot of life as it was on the canals in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Although professionally produced, the book has been very much a labour of love so I hope that the moderators will not consider this post to be advertising!
